The Nutrition Made Simple channel notes that lower cholesterol doesn't cause deaths, rather it's that numerous diseases, like cancer, cause cholesterol to drop, which skews the data. The host of that channel is an MD and a PhD.

Hello, just found this video - can anyone tell whether there is anything said about the relationship between CRP (c reactive protein) as an inflammation marker and cvd risk? Thanks.

Come and live in wonderful Ireland, they add fluorine by law to all drinking water unless it is a private well! That has its own problems due to farmers liberally using roundup, Gallup, grazon, nitrates etc, etc! No one seems to care when I bring this topic up and I say it is rat poison and they do get it from the Netherlands as a waste product from industry contaminated with other shit as well such as cadmium. Mad, mad, mad. We use a filter to get rid of fluorine, hopefully!

I , don't take alcohol , i don't like sweets and eat very less carbohydrate, eat a lots of vegetables and lentils as my meal . But my total cholesterol is 130 where triglycerides is 297. I even have an active lifestyle, walks 5 kms a day everyday. What should I do ? Here Dr are unaware of this. I deliberately went for triglyceride because i feel always tired. I always have to take painkiller like twice a week for migraine. So i am thinking u should check again after a month ! But what should i do in that month?

2022 I was pre-diabetic, fatty liver, overweight, often vegetarian, and I snored. Got my blood result on my phone, never went to see the doc (didn't want an argument!) got out my old biochemistry book, went keto. Lost 5 stone (that's about 30kg I think), blood results now TG 0.67mmol/L, HDL 1.7mmol/L, won't bore you with the rest and sorry I don't do U.S. mg/dL) so it's all very good (my LDL is a touch over 'normal' but heigh-ho, I live on fat and cholesterol so something's got to transport it all. Right?) and I've stopped snoring. I'm 71 and back in a bikini (don't worry, I'll wrap up the wrinkles if you come by), and feel 21. Luckily I live in Cambridge and I eat the cattle that graze on Midsummer Common (google the cows on Midsummer Common. Red Poll, short and chunky). They eat the grass and clover, I eat them. No ploughing, no pesticides, and one cow at a time meets her maker. Rather sad, I know, but I'm not going back to being veggie and ill. And it's all thanks to my old biochemistry book. So I approve of biochemists talking about mechanisms... and I just wish some of the science would make it into a newspaper headline, instead of the codswallop we're fed by the media.

Brilliant analysis! Well done. Still and always will refuse statins. Why does Dr Berg suggest low dose ruvostatin for reducing inflammation! A sensible doctor but I find this suggestion difficult. My doctor practically had orgasms when I thought I might consider his advice! Still not taking them though. I take metformin for my diabetes, as you say originally from the lilac tree. Does not break down in sewage works so I see people’s face go pale when I tell them you are drinking my metformin when you have a cup of tea in Ballina, Mayo. Unfortunately it is true. What you say in your videos is very well researched and explained. Thank you so much.

You are genuinely a gem on this platform my guy. The info you provide is some of the most helpful health and nutrition information ive seen online in video form. You also acknowledge the huge prevalence of BS in the medical industry when they use cherry picked epidemiology to somehow form conclusions that X food is bad and then recommend X drug to remedy the years of abuse your body has had to endure from eating red meat, saturated fat, eggs or whatever the new buzzwords are at the time.

Hi, my doctor prescribes statins rosuvastatin (Crestor) for cholesterol control. After a year I developed what could be similar to Alzheimer's symptoms. I had difficulty remembering things ( 15 minutes of memory ).I had been tested with the Montreal test and they said that I could have the beginning of Alzheimer's. After that I went to the internet google and KZfaq and from there some KZfaq doctors told in a video that statins were affecting cholesterol and that the brain made up with a lot of it. Guest what, I stopped taking those statins and 2 weeks after I didn't have any symptoms. A real miracle, I could have continue taking that medicine and have bad symptoms for the reste of my life. KZfaq had made me realize what could have been the source of my problem. No thanks to my doctor and his staff. . LESSON : STATINE ARE NOT WITHOUT RISK!

But I don’t know for sure. I’m 71so he checked my pulses and all clear but I had a TIA -low grade- the month after my Covid booster.

I think that the many vegan videos showing elderly at 90-100 years and older that way mostly fruits, nuts and veg, some are renowned nutritionists and Drs, so it convinces you to watch the diet. But when you change to the vegan way of life, as l did, you feel weaker and less healthy. Going back to eating saturated fats in meats and diary etc, you do feel much stronger and happier. So l personally question the overall health benefits of a vegan diet. Although l do still consume fruits and vegetables l do not any longer exclude meat and diary. Low cholesterol does affect hormones greatly and is precursor to you body making and maintaining healthy hormone levels. So if you want a proper diagnosis, male and females alike, get you hormones checked, then your cholesterol levels and you will note the affect low cholesterol has on your hormones, remember low hormones levels are associated more with all cause mortality than any raised cholesterol. Do your research and adjust your diet accordingly and you will see the difference in your health and length of life will improve greatly. Don't be missing led into getting cholesterol levels lowered with statin drugs, go for a Mediterranean diet that includes fish, eggs, diary and some meats and you will be fine.

I don’t know for a fact but perhaps 300 and above is associated with obesity, inactivity, and visceral fat. I recently heard that the body really eliminates all but 10-15% of food based or external cholesterol so could the increase in risk be attributed to reasons besides cholesterol?

My last test showed my cholesterol level was 5.2. The doctor immediately wanted me to go on a statin drug. But I already knew statins drugs have a less than 1% mortality rate prevention for heart attacks and strokes. So, basically a useless medication against these things. The doctor wrote on my file "Difficult patient. Has own beliefs about medication..." But I'm not difficult just very mindful about what I put into my body. And have a more invested interest in my health than what she does. My bad!

the problems have always been sugar/procesed junk/fried foods, never real food like meat, cheese, eggs, yoghurt and chicken and vegetables, right? how you cook your meat is also important - don't burn, use a slow cooker, no added oil

I did my consult last year and it was definitely worth the investment. It shed some light on things I was unintentionally doing that was beneficial as well as informing me on things I otherwise never would've thought to do. I'm constantly on your website looking for better products to use and so is my wife. She will be doing a consult very soon especially since we found out through blood tests that she has Rheumatoid Arthritis and a form of Lupus. Hopefully through you, we will be able to figure out how we can keep her as healthy as possible. She's been in constant pain and fatigue for over a month now. And in the 4 years her and I have been together, she's always come down sick with something. I'm looking forward to her speaking with you soon so we can hopefully eliminate the guesswork on figuring out what triggers her symptoms.
