Why do all so called gas or diesel mechanics show their tool "collection" and I say that because they always look brand spanking new. Like they are in a museum. Is there something I'm missing? The tools look brand new. Don't mechanics use their tools? Especially diesel. I was always curious why all these guys that showboat there tools never look like they use them. I wanna know why. I mean I have two cars and I'm a diyer and my tools don't even look this clean. Can someone explain please?

My shop does provide tools above 1" though so I only stock up to 1-1/4 in my cart, so our needs may be a little different. @@willc5979 maybe not top of the line but best bang for your buck. I got my 73” icon box, stainless top, hutch, and side locker for $6100. Matco quoted me $7000 to add a hutch and locker to my existing box that I paid $6000 for. 2 years of daily use and I have no complaints (or tool truck payment).

If your working in the field find a brand or brands I should say that u can afford make deals with and Aquire only professional grade tools for the stuff you use daily and need to be perfect you can cheap out a bit on things like getting a used box and or carts and things like adapters big big wrenches and or sockets pry bars punches and chisels it’s honestly different for each tech and depending what your actual job is you gotta find that balance that works for you to not go broke but still look and produce professional quality work on every job from Simple services to complete electrical or engine repairs and overhauls.
