Hals Wood Shop. Thanks for another lesson that many can benefit from these tips. I am 72 and have a mixed assortmentt of these and some other countersink bits to fit the task. I have moved the round depth set over to regular bits, after the bit broke to make any drill bit needed, and it works well. You hinted about more drills....hmm the age old question " why do you need another drill?" so I have 5. My Ryobi, a multi speed Black n Decker for countersinks and light drilling, 2 impact drills. Recently I tried the HF Bauer drill and impact set 20vt., I can say a nice weight. very good power. I bought a second battery. And for the cost a warrantee on the drill set. I like being pragmatic., 6 months and it runs well. Another time ....see the Hercules Plunge Router set...see Shop Ramblings utube...mine was 130 with the warrantee, many good features and extras.

Thanks Hal for watching the video. Yes, I figured there was some newbies out there or novices that needed to learn about these things. Yeah, I mention the fact that I could use another drill but actually I do have another drill. It's a corded Master mechanic drill. I picked up a long time ago years ago and it works great. It just has a cord on it and I neglect to use it. I like Bauer I have some Bauer stuff, few pieces of it and I would n't be opposed to buying Bauer again. I mean it's a great cost savings and it's great for the hobbyist I haven't had any problem with them failing. Have a good week.

Are you talking about the pocket hole drill? That's a special drill that comes with the pocket hole kit. It's a 3/8 but it has a smaller size on the tip which is like 1/8 of an inch. It's called a step drill. I hope this answers your question . Thanks for watching

Came here after being told I needed to get a plug cutter, or bung cutter and had never heard of them before. What's the difference between these and hole saws? #1, and #2 if your cutters are burning, can they be sharpened? Are you going to try sharpening your plug cutters at all?🤔
@leohorishny9561Ай бұрын
I forgot too: can these be used with a hand drill?
@WoodShopStopАй бұрын
Thanks for watching the video. I wouldn't advise using a hand drill you need the downward pressure from a press that works best also the drill press is perpendicular a hand drill may cut them at an angle if you don't have exactly straight. I haven't had much success with trying to sharpen and plug cutters but I did try sharing one and it didn't work out well. When they get dollar I plan on taking to my sharpening guy who does my saw blades it shouldn't be too expensive to sharpen those.
@halsonger1317Ай бұрын
This is also a great tool to check the bevel angle on your chisels.

@halsonger1317Ай бұрын
If you are rehabbing an old plane and you have to reflatten the bottom it's good to check and make sure you haven't gotten it off while using the higher-grit sandpaper. Also cheaper hand planes being mass-produced in China may not be to a proper tolerance that you will need to adjust. This check is mostly needed when you are using your plane with a shooting board, otherwise it's not as critical for most surfacing work.
