When university becomes a box ticking exercise, you know that society has really broken education.

I so badly wish I could have known about CLEPs before I started college. I could have knocked out SO MANY easy gen eds I wasted time on my freshman year.

Hi John I'm currently going to enter my freshman year of high school and felt a lot of inspiration from your "I broke the School System" video. I'm interested in self studying AP classes to get ahead on college credits; do you have any advice on self studying and the timing/strategies that go along with it?

This video is like those polyglot channels where they learn 100 languages in 2 weeks. Like, cool, but it is ridiculous that you think everyone can just DO that. Like, you’re mad that schools make you memorize things…like, are you serious, your current innate ability to memorize is far superior to the average person that of course you don’t feel the extra need to do it but literally you can’t know something unless you remember the thing you learned. Like, you could teach in the most fun interesting way but if you don’t have the ability to remember doing it then you can’t claim to have learned it. I’ll believe this video if you are given a literal random 25 people and succeed in getting them to do all of these things… without asking them to memorize things

90% of the things I do at my job i learned AFTER college.. HOWEVER I might have not gotten said job without the connections with industry professionals that I established in college.

I feel like the people who get a business degree aren't the high acheivers who go to school to learn. It's still impressive but it just seems like spending that effort investing in an actual degree or not getting a degree and investing in other indevors would have been better (unless you like it then good on you).

this is basically the route I took when I was already 3 years into college. Due to depression and severe unmanaged ADHD I had about a years worth of credit after 3 years, some semesters I just wouldn't enroll, or and I failed some classes. I got my shit together and found a bunch of ways to get credits. I took certifications I could transfer in, took courses on coursera, sophia, studycom, etc. and earned a ton of credit in a short period. Very proud of myself for getting my shit together. (also s/o james scholz). Anyone planning on going to college should look into finding external credits.
