Its the correct guard for muay thai & even street fighting lol because of the "glove size" or lack of thereof. You must guard more with the elbows. Yeah it exposes the body but so what, train abs & make your abs your armor. The head is much more important to protect from any stray shots, a body shot ain't the end (except if its from Canelo).

I agree. I feel like we could say "defense!" In a way like "Just don't forget about defense", like be prepared at any moment to do some defensive shee

FINALLY!!! The godfather of KZfaq talks facts! And m getting super tired of people talking about hands up when some of the best fighters in the world have their hands down. Yes as beginners it’s good to have them up, but we can’t always keep them up when our arms are on fire. Also eyebrows is a perfect level to keep your hands. But as you say, it’s how you use your tools. Not the tools themselves.

For me I never want my head to be square when they hit me, as long as I’m moving away they can’t hurt me too bad. Only thing to watch out for is kicks but I’m tall so I have a huge advantage

Jujitsu is useless when you start the grapple. Its better to learn wrestling then combine the Jujitsu submissions with wrestling. Youre a beast.

So delusional. No doubt he’s an amazing fighter but just to casually talk about one of the fastest pound for pound athletes in Bruce lee and then one of the biggest in the rock, and just act like he’d grab them with no imminent life threatening danger , la la land
@fighttips14 сағат бұрын
Except there's no proof that Bruce Lee ever even competed in a full rules MMA match, especially back when the competition wasn't nearly as tough as it is in current day. And The Rock is an actor. I think you're delusional and need to give Demetrious the respect he's EARNED.

Look, beginners like myself must learn the fundamentals first. Once we are comfortable with knowing how to protect ourselves, we can develop our own styles and innovate. You can’t innovate until you have the fundamentals down unless you are begging to get knocked out.

I think it stems from the idea of the hook being a big heavy hitting knockout, where you throw every single muscle you can into that one punch. but it's significantly more effective if you think about the anatomy of what happens with a lateral hit

The same way you use "eyebrows", we use "TELEPHONE!" If someone in the gym hollers that, stop being lazy. It's really not just up to the fighter but mainly up to the coach. Hands down just don't fly with my Kru and Kumu.

Still didnt explain why the thumb is outside. While I understand that you're punching with thick gloves, that's far from how you'd punch without a glove. Imagine if someone got into a bar fight and punched people with that lobster claw hand.

Everything you’re saying is just an opinion. Wolff's Law states that bones will adapt to the degree of mechanical loading, such that an increase in loading will cause the architecture of the internal, spongy bone to strengthen, followed by the strengthening of the cortical layer

I train both styles since 2012, if people ask what's the difference between those 2 styles, just answer like this: Muay Thai focus on close range combat, while Kickboxing focus on long range combat.
