Sounds like the timing is retarded and the off idle transition in the carb is a little lean. Definitely needs a bit more fine tuning but its a nice swap

Hello Joris de Vet, I'm in the middle of upgrading my 1978 Bus that has a type4 engine to increase its power for a cross country road trip. I would like to get with you on the details of lessons learned during your build and if you would do anything different if you had to start all over. Let me know what is the best way to communicate with you so we can proceed to continue this conversation. Thank you in Advance. @campsite1978

it depends, between 5 and 15k, but if you use original porsche parts like me, you will sooner go towards 15k (euro) this kind of horsepower can be built for much less (type 1 engine instead)

What is the advantage of using the Type 4 instead of the original engine ?
@SpangeBatta
@SpangeBatta Жыл бұрын
Much stronger engine case, threated rod’s thru the engine case, designed in the 60’s instead of the early 30’s Standard oil filter etc etc and it wil fit right in! Not that a type 1 is not cool! You can get this kind off power simply from a tuned type 1! But I like the type 4’s 👍🏻

very nice Engine, I was just wondering ,that this engine is heavier then a Type1 engine, there is a lot of extra weight on the four gearbox bolts to hold it place. would it not benefit having a engine mount bar on the front of the engine ,to give more support . or does hold the weight as it is .
@SpangeBatta
@SpangeBatta Жыл бұрын
No problem at all, oil cooler is in the front, fiber cooling shroud, 914 type 4 casting is also more magnesium than the type 1 AS41 I believe? Those few extra kilo’s is no problem at all! 👍🏻

@SpangeBatta
@SpangeBatta 2 жыл бұрын

Groet
