I wish I had found this when I first set up my pool because I had no idea that that was a jet and it needed to be turned on. I haven’t had mine on since I’ve bought this pool and I’m wondering if that will help my filter work more efficiently.

lol. I just returned a WiFi timer that I had bought for my pool for this very reason. Guess I’ll head back to the store haha.

Question how many bags of sand and what size bag did you use we just got the 18 ft
@PracticalMechanic3 күн бұрын
I think we used between 10-20 bags. I forget what size the bags were, but the "normal" size bags of leveling sand from the hardware store. The goal is to use as little sand as possible, but it doesn't go as far as you'd think! Good luck, you're going to like your pool 👍

Thank you so much for this video! Can you please talk more about your pool schedule? I’m a first time above ground pool owner and I don’t have a schedule for my pump. I’m out here completely winging it 😂 it would be great to know your schedule because I’d like to do something similar, even without the modifications mentioned in the video.
@PracticalMechanic3 күн бұрын
Thanks! For my schedule, I like to run for 12 hrs per day. I've played with it a bit, and seems to work best for me to run the pump primarily during the day. So from 8am to 8pm works pretty well. If you're using a timer like this one, then you can get fancier, like 2 hrs on, 1 hr off, etc.. the benefit of this is to keep the water stirred up more often to discourage algae growth. It is good to recirculate 90% of your water per day, which corresponds roughly to 2.5 turnovers per day. To calculate your turnover rate more accurately, there is a calculator here: poolsforfools.com/pool-volume-calculator-and-pump-size/ I hope this helps!

@@PracticalMechanic Omg!! Thank you SO MUCH for explaining 😍 I can finally wrap my head around this. I was wondering why I had problem with algae. Sounds like I need to turn my pump on more often. Makes total sense because I was only running for a couple hours a day. Ahhhhhh. Got it!!! Thank you again 😊

What is the purpose of the shut off valve running from the pump to the outlet that puts water into the pool? I can’t find any info on when to close it.
@PracticalMechanic5 күн бұрын
One example would be if/when you want to clean or change the filter media, you would shut this port so that you can disconnect the reservoir without draining water from the pool.

are we adding water to the pool doing this ?
@PracticalMechanic6 күн бұрын
Yes. If you use a garden hose going to your spigot. As an alternative, you can attach it to the drain port (D), and set the pump to drain. Then you are just recirculating the water. This method requires a proper adapter from the drain port to your hose. Good luck, hope it helps.

Thank you . This was an excellent presentation. The pump on a Whirlpool DW I have at my daughter’s house has this issue . I was just quoted $360.00 for the part and $70.00 to install . After watching the how to repair, I’m good with $70.00 to remove and install. The mark up on the part is about double . I’m partially disabled so some of the labor process would be a challenge. Thank you anyway . It was a very informative read.

I have installed a Junsun Android (with Android version 13) Radio in my diesel dual cab and it came pre-set with IGO Navigation. I don't prefer the music to play very loud when I am driving in urban areas but I am trying to get the audio navigation/directions to be louder than the radio volume because I have the radio volume on low. I have increased the navigation audio volume in the IGO navigation app settings to 100% and the radio /media on silent when the navigation audio is on. But I cannot get the navigation audio volume to be louder than the radio audio volume. I really need some advise on this please.

It's way easier to change the AC compressor on 2008 Accord than the 7th gens
@PracticalMechanic8 күн бұрын
Good to know
@Abizzy848 күн бұрын
A clogged condenser doesn't always caused a failed AC compressor, just like with an Alternator or Power steering pump, they all fail after 200,000 miles. Yeah if it fails when you only have 100,000 miles then maybe your theory is right. My last Honda Accord had 300,000 miles and the original AC worked fine, but I know people that the AC compressor died around the time their Alternator died. My second 8th gen Accord I'm at 261,000 miles and my AC compressor is still working but it's making noise and failing. You don't need to replace the AC condenser if your AC still works

Thank you for the great explanation! I have a question. My water was dirty today so I did a backwash. All fine except filter is leaking water from the ring that holds the top to the bottom. I use a solar blanket (not sure if related as it seems to keep the pressure higher than without blanket) and have had this happen before and once it starts I can't get it to stop leaking. I tried tightening the screws but no difference. Any thoughts? Thank you!

Hmm. Maybe double check that the plugs have been removed from the inlet ports, check the tubes for clogs (like a sucked up dryer sheet or leaves), also check that the "crown" valve on the top of the output jet is fully rotated to "unlock" position. Good luck, 👍

Question! When changing the light bulb can you change the light to white instead of yellow? Is there something I’m missing or is the bulb just a standard colour. Is the head unit the thing that needs to change?
@PracticalMechanic16 күн бұрын
Yes, you can! When buying the bulb, choose the color based on the "temperature" which is referred to in terms of Kelvin, or "K." Yellow lights are around 3000K, white is around 5000K, and blue lights are around 8000K. Here are a few examples: 4100K - amzn.to/3zJF1Mo 6000K - amzn.to/4feIwL1

I go into a GFI outlet, but I wanted to be able to set the pool pump on a timer, so went through a wifi enabled smart plug first. The problem with this method was that it would trip the GFI on the plug. I made a video on that here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pJebiLaIlbKoeqc.html

No, dejo mi piscina montada incluso en invierno. Dreno el nivel del agua por debajo de los puertos de entrada y salida, y llevo la bomba y los tubos al interior. Se forma una capa de hielo en la parte superior, pero se cura bien.

Hi! Thanks for your nice Video! I made the backwash procedure, but even I do that, I keep seeing in pools bottom, sand (I believe from the sand filter) as before the backwash.. In your opinion it will be easy to open the filter and empty all the sand? Any idea?
@PracticalMechanic18 күн бұрын
I think, over time, the amount of sand making it through the filter will reduce. You could also try larger sand particles. But if you want to remove it, it is not that difficult. Follow the steps in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hJqXZ9ekmb6XcXk.html Good luck, hope it helps! 👍
