Dear Leslie, I got this system and I watched your video at-least 10 times. Your video is pretty much the only detailed video available. I was able to figure it out. Thanks a TONNN!!!!

Wouldn't it be more effective to just trim the wax down with a sharp chisel? You would need to have a tool rest of course, but I don't see the need to use a file as it looses it's effectiveness as it loads up. The tool rest could be a simple wooden L for something as soft as wax. Slower speeds with a sharp tool would also prevent heating up the wax through friction which would load up the cutting tool as well. I turn mostly wood and metals so my wax knowledge may be incomplete here. What you are doing seems mildly dangerous. The file could catch and tear your hand.

My Swiss made handpiece is great, EXCEPT… it’s need to frequently be tightened. I’ve even had a collet break mid- job ( replacement for $45!) . Hopefully someday I’ll remember how to tighten without having to search for a video. Thanks for the info, hopefully I can tighten this today… got a couple of wedding sets to finish. BTW- my OF Quick change hand piece DID NOT come with tightening instructions.

Can I leave my foredom speed controller connected to my foot peddle even if I'm not using the hammer handpiece?
@Ottofrei11 ай бұрын
Yes you can! And it is useful for many rotary tools, always check the manufacturers recommended speed rating for each bit, bur and wheel you use.

I recently purchased such a tool. I had to do a lot of modifications. Unfortunately the shafts are hardened but not tempered, very fragile. Chunks of the axis broke off at the gears because of the loose fit and backlash. Now I will have to go to a turner to fix it. I advise you to burn out the studs for the gears, so they do not break off when loaded, they must fit tightly

I’m curious if you or any other viewers have compared this to something like the Steam Dragon, and can speak to whether or not the added pressure of the SD design, over 100 psi, results in cleaner jewelry? The engineering, design, and finish of the Reliable unit is light years ahead of the SD, but the more than double pressure the SD offers makes me wonder which is the better choice.

Great. but a lot of information is missing...such as, what's the length of the hose? Are hose extensions available, how long can one use a disposable tank for soldering, etc?
@Ottofrei Жыл бұрын
Hey there! This torch kit includes a 50" hose, extras are available but we don't typically recommend extensions, I would say the tank itself would last several hours and depending on what tip is being used that could vary from 10 -15 hours
@Flametamer9 Жыл бұрын
@@Ottofrei well the problem with that is I'm in japan, and although we have the usual barbecue size propane tank available, I don't want to keep it in my studio for obvious reasons and so they sell the Disposable Coleman tanks I don't want to have to keep throwing them away and buying a new one, I would like to be able to either keep the 5 gallon size tank outside on the veranda and run the hose into my studio, or be able to refill the smaller 1 lb tanks but the fillable 1 lb tanks are not available in this country
@Flametamer9 Жыл бұрын
@@Ottofrei do you have extra hoses available in stock at Otto Frei and can two of them be easily connected together? I'm going to be coming to the Bay Area on the 23rd of December and I wonder if you're going to be open between December 26th and January 3rd?
