Do you prefer arch or endeavour? I have used arch before but which one do you personally prefer?
@maxhudotdevАй бұрын
I think Endeavour is pretty good, it's like arch installer, and it's better than manjaro. I switched to normal arch because it's more minimal since it doesn't have any of the pre-installed endeavour programs. Using Endeavour is a good introduction to arch since it prevents you from dealing with the kind of tricky stuff of arch initially like the installation process, configuring sudo, getting dual booting to work, getting sound to work, setting up xorg/wayland, wifi etc... Overall, I prefer arch but Endeavour is a good start if you want to use arch without spending a bunch time setting it up

very nice, this is optional but maybe some further installation instructions for other package managers (dnf, apt, yum, brew etc), prob wont be much different but many would be thankful
@maxhudotdevАй бұрын
I don't use those package managers so I don't really know what the install commands would be since sometimes they have different names for the same packages on pacman, but I can list the required packages: neovim nodejs npm ripgrep and then use a package manager for npm packages like npm, pnpm, yarn, bun to install: eslint biome
@berat2690Ай бұрын
@@maxhudotdev ah OK, also is your neovim config a lot different than lazy vim? That's what I currently got
@maxhudotdevАй бұрын
It has some similar things like it uses the lazy.nvim plugin manager and uses the tokyonight theme and dressing.nvim so it looks similar, but it's fundamentally setup differently from lazyvim. It also uses nvim-tree instead of neo-tree, and has no lualine and some other stuff
@berat2690Ай бұрын
@@maxhudotdev ah i see , honestly im not big into configuring since im a new neovim user, but yours looks hella nice, btw do u have the which key plugin? i dont see the difference between nvim-tree and neo-tree lol

Arch is great but I'm thinking about branching out to other distros like void and gentoo
@ErikOnNoobTube28 күн бұрын
@@maxhudotdev I'm thinking of switching over to void aswell. I've only dabbles so far with void, but it is definitely the most exciting distro out there right now. Robust package-manager and containerized source building with xbps-src that act kinda like freeBSD jails. Not to mention official support for musl C library, which is cool if you don't use much proprietary software. Regarding the init system, I'm mostly indifferent. I don't hate systemd, but I do appreciate the simplicity from runit. All in all I'm getting some really good Linux and BSD vibes from void.
