Cutting to the wideshot while his brain is floating away is one of those tiny directorial choices that's somehow just perfect. 🤌🏻

Underrated moment: Ned thinks that Homer saying the place sucks means that he's having fun sucking down cider.

I love all the little sound effect details: Homer's footsteps, Flander's pass coming out of his pocket.

Goddamn if this still doesn’t help me to this day. For reference I am a moron who needs rhymes and I live near a region that provides the world’s best apples. Hint. Think the greatest Great Lakes in the world. No offense. Africa. Hey Africa, it would be really funny to change the name of Lake Victoria to Lake Prince Andrew. Stick it to the King, while still honoring the royalty. Lolol. Kenya was a great country. What about the apples? I forgot. Slava Ukraini! Russia is crumbling.

Simpsons writers crushed it. I love how he’s the first ever season pass issued, cause he was the first one to keep showing up. They couch that whole scenario inside a joke that isn’t even said or mentioned by a character.

Fun fact; Cider outside of America is alcoholic. Which is why this scene confused me as an Australian, given the fact Flanders is extremely religious and a borderline teetotaler.

The sounds alone - the brain leaving, the noise when Homer hits the floor, the sound of Ned running to get the cider, is better than most modern Simpsons episodes.
