It's a good thing Will Rogers gets the ball out quick, but our offense will only go as far as the OL allows for. The OL sets the floor and ceiling for the offense, and then it's up to the skill positions to make the best of it.

It’s critical that the UW can recruit the Asian Pacific Islander community in Hawaii, Las Vegas and I assume Utah. That rift between Olin Keutz and Coach Lambright really put the program behind a few years. I’m really excited to see the “pro spread” and how the new Qb adjusts to having to drop back and run progressions.
@dougrobinson66833 күн бұрын
We had lots of poly guys in the Petersen era, so I don't think the Kreutz rift has anything to do with the recent lack. I don't think DeBoer's staff was very connected to the islands.

@@dougrobinson6683 I’m not talking about recent. It cost them back in the day and the pipeline the UW had went somewhere else for years. I stopped following the program after Willingham got extended that 5th year and didn’t start following the program again until Deboer got hired because I was curious what that air raid hybrid would do at the Pac level. We had season tickets from 1977 to whatever year that extension was 2005 maybe?

@@AaronStark1993 they lost out on numerous players over that rift. I was never able to find out what happened. It’s weird because a lot of players were very loyal to Lambright when he was a DC but I did hear some rumblings about how he had handled personnel as the head.

It never matters what the media says. I predicted that UW had as much talent as Oregon when Jimmy Lake was coach, and all you guys in media laughed at me. Who am I anyway? Rutgers is a dark horse. They could win the division. Look at their schedule. UW will show themselves a bit. But we are playing teams with what established programs. We have quality talent. We have the best coach. I can not study all these teams in the Big Ten, too many teams, and it would take too much time. Pay my apartment bill, and I would study this and know. UW high hopes are 8-4, 6-6 are low hopes. Without a lot of injuries here....

I do not recall you guys picking anything correctly really, until it is already a known. UW never has national what championship caliber talent, even when we do. There have been plenty enough UW teams were what National Championship caliber without winning one. The last team that almost won a what National here Championship here in 2023 was not picked by you guys right off as of either they won in spite of you. People were saying years ago that we as were rebuilding with that team that almost won the National Championship, before Deboer came. We had no great recruiting class for 2016 their class (it was later considered a great class, but no one was great about it in when the recruiting cycle of gods were waging their votes that you guys wage yourselves after) who knows what this here latest class has. You know how many top ten classes Oregon has had? And how many Championships here as Nationally? I do not get off on talking Oregon, but Oregon like Texas A&M and Tennessee and I could go on and on in that top ten list that always has the same teams enlisted among it. They get what you guys call what here championship type talent. Jonah Coleman to me is a better back than Myles Gaskin. Jonah might be another Corey Dillon here type, or something definitely made for the NFL, I think. It is a different mix of talent than we have had. We finally have a coach on our team that is worth a dang. Deboer always felt like a tight pair of underwear. Fisch is fitting snug, but he does not crimp on me or cramp my style. He is what he is. Not on crack like Deboer. Deboer is great but not as great as Fisch here. We are always rebuilding as we are. So funny.

No, I think the coaching staff has been around football long enough to know what to do under any circumstances. My assumption is it will be a quick hitting offense with an emphasis on several reads and then if nothing is open it just goes to the safety valve. Plus there will be more runs and option than under Deboer.
@killbaal41496 күн бұрын
There will also be more of an emphasis on ball possession which will help out our defense and grind opposing defenses.
@VeronicaSkeels-ej5tp6 күн бұрын
Lars, I don't think your explanation of why UW has no preseason honors is the whole story. Despite the mass exodus, there are still a few Huskies that have proven themselves, and a few whose potential is undeniable, including Brunner, Jackson, Fabliculanan, Rogers, and Boston, for example. While postseason honors reflect achievement, preseason honors should be about potential. Apparently, whoever concocted the preseason honors believes that the players I mentioned are not among the top 66 (or whatever) players who have the potential for honorable achievement in 2024 in the BIG 10. Washington did not go 14-1 solely due to its 22 starters. And after every season, the torch is passed to players who have the potential to be future stars, and Washington has some.
@killbaal41496 күн бұрын
I’m really surprised they allowed this many scholarships and it’s another way to separate out teams and conferences. It’s a great way to bet on potential and the tweeners who may not fit in a spot but will have time to develop and grow into a position. It also allows them to take more chances with the portal or JUCOs. Teams are going to need more depth with the upcoming changes and increased competition.
