Unfortunately you don't have that fan in front of your engine all the time. If the boost in power is somehow created by the position of the fan, then moving or removing the fan should theoretically drop your power back down to 200rwhp. That piece of silicone hose on your airbox needs a nice bellmouth on it to aid air entry and direct it to a source of cool air. The length of that hose may also be playing a role in tuning together with the volume of your airbox. Spend some more time on the dyno, first trying to replicate what you did to get 236 rwhp and then try some suggestions Ive made to see if it makes a difference. Do a run with the bonnet closed, as well....see what happens. Air passing through the radiator will be hotter and less dense. Love what I see here, it's good to see six cylinder NA motors being tuned up. 😀

@@DAT28C cheers mate. There is a hole in front of the silicone tube in the radiator support to lets cooler air in when you are driving, yes the air hits the whole front of the car wouldn’t you say? There will be a pod filter on there at some stage so the bell mouth is out the window. Should have tried it with the bonnet down yes. 👍

I've been waiting for this nice work. That's a good bump up. Brings back memories of my VF VIP. I did have a 360 V8 I had built and loved the car I got it when I was 16 until I was in my 30's. Sadly, rust was the killer for it. The roof back panel in the rear window and the seam in the middle under the vinyl roof looked OK with it on, but when taking it off, the whole roof was paper thin and rusted. You could push your finger right through the roof in any spot.

Ive been a motorcycle mech since the eighties and there was one universal observation back then, if the ignition system on any brand of bike had pooped itself, it was at least an 80% likelyhood it was a component that was bolted to the engine. Heat and vibes did electronics no favours. That module would be bolted onto the firewall if it was mine. Dont get me wrong,Im not bagging your car, that val is a beast!.

Maybe look at other things like the airbox and air filter possibly causing restrictions and playing with trumpet lengths....perhaps the length of them isn't tuning properly at higher rpms and your combination isnt taking advantage of the harmonics? Sounds good though.

I used to do lpg conversion s 40 years ago and many a time on the dyno a full power run would see water using between head and block its just a case of under performing engineering a decent set of head studs and fine tread nuts will fix it

Yeah something has always been a miss. I have ordered e49 valve springs, so we”ll see the out come. 302hp is a flywheel number. 245 auto with 3.45 gears is going to read a lot lower on a dyno compared to the original. 14.4 1/4 mile is pretty close to the original, let’s see if we can bet that.
@IanMicheal
@IanMicheal Ай бұрын
Interesting long way off stock E49 charger i know that's a 265 etc but still 302 hp (225 kW) at 5600 rpm.. Stock 245 Power: 123 kW (167 PS; 165 hp) at 4600 rpm this is only a two barrel.. I remember my stock 245 in my vg regal with a 4BL holly was making 200 hp and it had over 150.000 miles on it. DYNO AT TAFE. Now with the charger The increased power is due mainly to a more aggressive camshaft, high-load valve springs, triple 45 mm (1.8 in) DCOE sidedraught Weber carburetors, tuned-length exhaust headers and a higher compression ratio of 10.0:1. What compression is this running ?.. There was a low compression 245 only made 130hp 1977 etc..
