By looking at your setup I think I definitely screwed up buying a new 9.9 yamaha for my 17ft arima. What hp kicker are you running, I couldn't make it out. Have you ever ran a 9.9 on your arima or have experience with similar boat and 9.9, if so how slow would it troll. I mainly fish kokanne year round when salmon is closed and need a slow trolling motor. I wanted the charging ability but if its too fast is a problem. You definitely catch some awesome fish all around that largemouth on the other video is just insane.

We use a 6hp on the arima. It does more than enough and we can slow it down enough for trout and walleye. On my 21 Proline I use a 9.9 just cause the weight difference!

Bass boat designs suck for rough water. All you can do is cower in the back. You can't sit up front where it needs some weight.

June/July 2021 on Green Bay {WI} I was fishing in my 16ft Bass Tracker like i do when its calm, but I seen a big storm coming and felt the air change so I headed back roughly 5 miles south. By the end of my ride the waves were around 4ft. A few hours later the Coast Guard said they reported waves of over 10ft, largest ever recorded there and their rescue boat had to turn around. A small craft with 7 people in capsized, one fatality. Several factors there but experience on big water and hitting waves is key. I definitely got wet, but was never in danger and knew where harbors were if wasnt comfortable. I grew up fishing there 30 years ago in 12ft aluminum bench seat boats with 10hp tillers.

@capersfishing
@capersfishing 2 жыл бұрын
This was our first time crossing this bar. I've heard many horror stories about the Tillamook bar so we took chose a day with winds less than 5mph, small tides, and a swell under 5ft. On those conditions it was great.

Try riding right knee on the seat, left leg/ foot on the deck. This will let you stand upright more and cushion the ride, saving your back in the long run. Hard to do with a hot foot tho
@RonBand01
@RonBand01 2 жыл бұрын
Funny, I thought that I was the only one that did that. Cushions it a lot and also puts you slightly higher so you have a better view of the waves as they approach.

Nice going, but that is not rough. Your boat would be swallowed by Lake Ontario on a breezy day. The whole nose of my Stratos 201 EVO is submerged to the consoles when I spear a rogue wave out on that lake! Now that is scary! Cheers!

Uhm He’s on either mead or Mojave… I love it when people say on that these massive lakes out west don’t get that rough… When they’ve never experienced it… I’ve done the great lakes… I’ve done Lake Mead… Lots… There is no worse condition in bass fishing then these Western massive lakes, with the wind bouncing off canyon walls that span upward 2k feet, with water so deep it Is not even possible to comprehend… Trust me, the great lakes are no joke, not at all but it’s different, way different
