i do remember and having to sit in the car as a child, never realizing, how dammaging we were then! My god! The seagulls were thick!! An update (from a local) for 2022: The mall is now completely closed on the inside. Several external tenets still exist, including Xcaret Mexican Restaurant, which is still open, Kiku Japanese Steakhouse (located where the East of Chicago was) a local dry cleaners, and Planet Fitness (where the Dollar General used to be). Several business have opened up in the parking lot, much to the chagrin of the mall owners. A car wash, Jimmy John's, and Panda Express exist. Maurices I have no idea when it closed, and from what little I know, they survived until the mall closed them down, and not vice versa. In 2020, despite having basically no tenants besides Xcaret, they replaced the welcome sign. If you want to help out, you could always lease a property yourself, though I've heard it wasn't the decline of malls that killed it as much as their high rent. EDIT: A school is looking into moving into the old JCPenny's
