Does each Lowrance plotter require a card to be purchased individually ?? Or can one card provide map data to other units connected via NEMA / ethernet ?

@dizzyfish 26 күн бұрын
I don't think you can share the map data across ethernet, but I could be wrong. If it was me, I would dedicate one head unit to display charts.

Hi, thanks for the videos on the Lynx! What do you think it’s cost to get the hull protection up to a satisfactory standard? I love the idea of it being lightweight but a bit wary of it getting damaged. Also, do you think it’s safe enough to do a bit of coastal fishing? I’m really torn at the moment between the Lynx and the Passport/Compass. Cheers Pete
@dizzyfish
@dizzyfish 8 ай бұрын
Hi Pete - thanks for the comment… the cost of the protection was minimal (Berley Bumper Bro and some protective strips) when compared to the cost of the Lynx. I have used the Lynx for lots of inshore saltwater fishing trips. It performed really well - I added an anchor trolley to the Lynx as well. All in all, the Lynx has been outstanding - I also own 2 Hobie Outbacks and a Hobie Revolution. Since I have owned the Lynx I hardly ever use the Outbacks and Revi. It is lighter and quicker than both of them, and more stable. I wouldn’t want to be out in it, if it was rough, but then I wouldn’t want to be out in my outback (or any other kayak for that matter) if it was rough.

You need an Environment agency permit for any particular stretch of water (CR1) and permission from the landowner. Only non-native species can be taken and must not be returned to the water. The permit needs the NGR (grid ref) for the upstream and downstream limits of where you want to trap. Gloucestershire canals do not permit trapping as I found out well into the process.

@@kestutismarkevicius3264 Even if there non native mate, the American signal carries a crayfish plague that is deadly to native species. the problem is this plague can be transferred by boots/wet equipment and you might involuntary infect other lakes. Best to just get a licence to trap and kill them on the bank then take them home to eat. a lot of people will tell you " there invasive who cares" but that can actual makes things worse, which is why you need a licence in the first place so they can track the movements :P

Nice set rig dude! Was wondering how you did the anchor trolley. Was that standard hull protector strips underneath or Berkely stuff too? Seen another second hand Revo 11 for £1600 on disgrace book today and have given it a lot of thought, but the Lynx is still making me hesitate. Rounding up the numbers, the Outback is 40kg, the Revo is 30kg and the Lynx is 21kg. Half the weight and much less tippy than the Revo. It's killing me!
@dizzyfish
@dizzyfish Жыл бұрын
Thanks Charlie. I used hull protector strips underneath, and then used a BerleyPro bumper bro on the bow, which also provides a bit of protection… the two mods in combination seem to be doing a good job so far. I still have the Revo 11, and if I didn’t have the lynx, it would be my go to for freshwater, and I still love it. But like you say, the Lynx is just so blooming light, and I’m not getting any younger!

Make sure you get a bit of training and don't forget all of the safety gear if you are thinking of taking up kayak fishing. I purchased my Hobie kayak at the Shore Thing Hobie center based right on the beach at Poole.
