@@spiritualoperator wow thank you. I was doubting myself because of that. But I know I can still do what they do in boot camp. And what really shocked me was, I saw students that barely came out of high school in a study group getting taught improper fractions and something with prime numbers. I was just mumbling the answer to the side and when the recruiter looked my way he said, “Correct.” I couldn’t believe I remember that but I knew I had a long road ahead of me with that test. Cause I hardly remember algebra. Thanks again for the confidence booster. I can’t wait to do Bootcamp. I hoping they send me to Philippines.

How old were you when you did the 18X program? I'm 25 and would have liked to be an officer but I've changed my mind. I might end up joining at 27. Would that be too old in your opinion? (Not too old for SF but is it worth it? Should i just go officer)
@spiritualoperator
@spiritualoperator 13 күн бұрын
I was 30 when I started basic. 27 is not to old. I was originally going officer, but recruiters said at the last minute they were full for the year. @@exsaviervega517 absolutely… IF you get selected. Typically you need a higher GT score, but they are always needing candidates that can pass the Special Forces Combat Medic course. It is longer and you must retain a standard GPA throughout. With your medical background you would definitely get that opportunity. I did 4 years in the army (13B), got out for 4 years, went back into the reserves (12k) for 4 years, I’ve been out for 4 years and now I’m thinking about going back in as AGR for the long haul. I never took the military serious and getting older and maturing I’ve realized I’m not getting any younger and I need to figure out what to do with my life. Why not give up 15-20 years of my life to the army if you’re gonna do the same as a civilian for a job or corporation. I’ll still get to retire before everybody and I’ll have great benefits. You get to do so many different things in the Army that you can’t do as a civilian. And just putting on that uniform, it gives me purpose again. I just feel connected to every warrior throughout history. The only downside is the freedom to do as you please and smoke weed 😂. But it’s a small sacrifice for a better life. (Man if the army let me smoke weed I would do 40 years 😆)

For about the last year I've been feeling a heavy calling on my heart to serve. My first instinct was to look into the SEAL teams because of the brotherhood. Both the challenge and the comradery that came with it were attractive. I went to see a recruiter and apparently I have too many kids for the Navy (3 now and hopefully more in the future). So now I've pivoted to the Army 18X. I'm almost 30 so waiting on two waivers but if all goes well I should be set to enlist in August. I would love to hear a video about being both a soldier and a father. I worry about making the same mistakes my dad made by being absent and passing on some of the same damage to my son. For this reason, and so my wife can be close to family while I train and deploy, I have been thinking of switching up and doing the 18X program with the Guard instead. But my wife really wants me to go active duty with the Army so we are still praying about it. I would love your perspective as someone who also has a growing family.

@@hannibalthe1st565sorry for the delay on this! Wokeness hasn’t “ruined” the Army, but it does present personal moral/ethical decisions on a daily basis. It requires a sacrifice to get along with those who believe deeply and act outside of one’s own ideology. Still, the army is supposed to remain apolitical. Apolitical is just surface level though. Just like religion cannot be removed from a service member, neither can nor should political ideologies. I would submit that the biggest problem that the military has is elected officials that have no military background. Thomas Jefferson wrote, “We equally pledge our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.” We need people in office who have put their lives on-the-line for our liberty, and who understand the true sacrifice required for securing what we hold dear. Service members in elected offices equals national integrity in our force posture and world standing. Without it, we are posing.

I doped myself and then I did a 180 after 10 years of living like that and became a registered nurse. I workout hard and I am definitely jacked and look like Max Payne in his older age when bald with a beard on. Learned all my struggles we in part encouraged by the ADHD I got diagnosed in my forties. And here we are now. I just lost my mother. That day I stopped being a boy and started the journey of the man. I promised her that from there onward I will always better myself and that everything is going to be alright. This year, I will enlist. I have been many faces, many bodies and many voices. My whole life I destroyed everything I knew only to built myself anew on many occasions. I would like to become a drill sergeant or staff if thats another name for it? and see them kids succeed and become like unmovable mountains through their sheer power of will. I would like to show the lion living in me to those who acts like jackals and hyenas. The lion is coming back to reclaim his kingdom and as such, this is what I want people to find within themselves so that we claim it back, together.

Congrats on retirement and thank you for your service! There is older age limits for direct commissions such as medical officers, chaplains, and JAG without waivers. Waivers take the age WAY higher. In ‘07 I was in and I watched a 42 year old officer crush the Q. Currently our new generation has figured out med boards as a way out of enlistment and their disillusionment. Those of us who come in older, especially prior enlisted, understand authority and are secure in our position despite age.

I'm sorry the military is so desperate that they will take people up to age 42; obese people; foreigners; people with felonies; people with no high school diploma; and people with mental health issues. Is this who we really want defending our country?? I would rather they bring back the draft (many other countries have mandated military service). and get rid of the woke agenda; it's not doing us any favors. If you have waited until age 30+ to decide to enlist; there are issues

I’m sorry you’re a very negative person that holds people to their past failures and not future accomplishments. I’m sorry you are unhappy that others see themselves in a different light when they may have been in darkened for a long time and found a greater purpose with serving others and this beautiful country. I wish you the best and peace over the negative look you have on people that may have fell short earlier on in life, but hold their self to a higher standard now. And if that means that that bothers you, welp, it is what it is.

So how does it work if you're thinking to stay the 20 years to retire in the military? I am 34 years old and thinking about to joining,but will it be possible for me to renew my contract after let's say 6 years contract?

It should be possible to renew after 6 years even if you start at 34. Retirement is different than it used to be, but it is still good. To be fair, sometimes a SM has to give up retirement to enter at an older age.

I retired at 40. I have a lot of respect for someone that would come in at 30 or 40. Great job.
