I've got black locust from standing dead trees and made charcoal a few time and got it 4:41 so hot one time that the coals burned blue and sounded like leaded crystal when you stirred them and then they got so dang hot that they floated 4 inches above the bed of coals. It was late and i was listening to Slayer and my cousin stopped by and thought I was practicing witchcraft. He still dont talk to me much.😆

I was born in raised in our family holler in Southeastern Ky in Harlan County, a stone throws away from Big Stone Gap VA. We grew and raised most of what we ate we went to town for very little. My papaw raised me and my cousins up on single shot shotguns and squirrel hunting with 32 and 36 caliber flintlocks. I left for the Marines for 12 years, was an Infantry Rifleman, and got into Recon before I got out. But with all my time spent with these highspeed weapons in combat, my heart belongs to a flintlock rifle. Just something beautiful about them.

Hello Mr. Reed, Im no pagan. I'm a God fearing man, but believe it or not there was a book, that just validated actually how many thousands of years it's been used. This book is written by a chemist from Harvard or sum big college. That explains everything about the use of different plants and there uses down to chemical makeup. It is a pagan book so I no longer own it ,but I did Learn a very powerful way which is just like everyone talks about. Not boiling but just heating the leaves and stems for about 8 hrs in just enough water to cover the leaves. Heating to almost a very low simmer. Man that stuff was strong. Of. Ourse I did this in my younger more curious days lol. But good video it's very informative. TY

@@markirish7599Pagan methods lead you away from your Creator YAHUAH. So if you are ever thinking of eternal life or death, the choice of method is very important. Deuteronomy 13 speaks of false prophets that lead you away from truth and our Creator. It would behoove us to acknowledge the creator of all things and give Him glory for the benefit. shalom friend

I tried it today as a test against another entry level gun. That was a 1300fps wild cat whisper but the result was the extra velocity is not even close to the damage of the .22 cal. I also am worried the gammo guns may have some over estimate their fps but they are generally good. The ruger gun was freaking loud and spring powered.

Nice video. I’ve never heard of anyone using a 22 magnum for tree’d bears. For years I didn’t think I needed a 22 mag but I found myself looking for a rifle to use for fall turkey hunting in PA. I wanted a 22 hornet but could not find one. I stumbled across an only JM stamped marlin bolt action 22 mag and I love it. Laws were changed so the pa fall season is shotgun only so I never got the chance to get a turkey with it but I’ve had it in the woods a few times. Whoever sold it probably misses it

If you spray wd40 in the back skirt of the pellet after you load it before you close the breach it will diesel the pellet and dramatically increase the velocity. Petroleum jelly works too. It also lubricate the rifling and cocking linkage which helps it last longer and also prevents rust. It will make some noise like 22lr tho so I'd recommend some ear protection.

Terrible advice. Dieseling can cause major rifle malfunctions and cause injury. When you diesel the pellets, you’re creating a small explosion behind the pellet. Something that the rifle isn’t designed for. It can cause seals to break, heat up and not fit and work properly which will result in rifle malfunction or injury. A couple times is ok but never over the long haul.

Done it for years with many different guns and never had a problem. All of them still work and all of them still seal.@itsawonderfulknife7031

Thanks for taking the time to educate. I appreciate it. I saw a guy do this over a fire, he boiled the ash and water mix, filtered, then boiled off to render it down for strength. Now I learn from you it needn't be boiled initially if you have time to let it soak. PS I enjoyed looking around your shop while you talk, fitting together sometimes, and sometimes not, why things are there, and in the places they're in.
