Beautiful shots. I have the 200mm f2.8 and it is a remarkable lens. Looking currently at getting the 12-60 as an everyday lens - I take it you would recommend it?
@PicturesInABoxAtHome29 күн бұрын
Thanks! Yes, both the Panasonic 12-60mm and the Leica 12-60mm are very nice lenses. I would say the Leica is better constucted, a little sharper and definitely has better contrast/rendering but the Panasonic is lighter and cheaper. Cheers.

Many thanks! The G9 has a very nice output, most of these shots a pretty much straight out of the camera using the natural picture profile.

Should they look different?

Thanks for watching the video. I think the 5.8K is slightly sharper even when resized but it is very, very slight by the time KZfaq has compressed it. The stabilisation in 4K is definitely better straight out of the camera though. Cheers.

How does the battery last in shooting wedding
@PicturesInABoxAtHome9 ай бұрын
Hi. I've not filmed a wedding so can't say accurately but it is similar to other M43 or ASPC sized cameras, it's good not great. You should be able to get 1 to 1.5 hours if shooting short 30sec to 1minute video clips and leaving the camera on in between shots. There are power saving modes that would help. For photgraphy, you should get several hundred shots on a single charge.

How do you find the stabilization when zoomed all the way in? And was any of this in AF?
@PicturesInABoxAtHome11 ай бұрын
The stabilization is very effective. Most of these shots will be at 400mm so 800mm equivalent focal length in full frame terms. I tend to use the Boost IS setting if I'm planning on keeping the camera aimed at a set point and 'just' the dual IS if I'm panning and/or tilting the camera. Both are very effective. I use manual focus nealy all the time and generally use the AF-On button on the rear of the camera to back button focus before hitting record to get the focus close and then fine tune if necessary, which normally isn't required. Please like and subscribe!

@@PicturesInABoxAtHomeThank you for the elaborate response. My main concern is jerky panning, especially when panning speeds are erratic. That is something I've seen in other videos with this lens. Also have you used the 5.7k 60p? That reportedly makes the stabilization more jerky.
@PicturesInABoxAtHome9 ай бұрын
@@Wildridefilms Panning with IBIS can be tricky as the IBIS naturally wants to keep the lens still when you start panning. There is a specific IBIS operation mode where you can set the IBIS for left and right panning or up and down panning which does help a fair bit in the GH6 menu. Also, all shots are manually focused. Regarding 5.7K, it is more jerky than other modes, presumably as nearly the whole sensor is being read it leaves less leeway for correction by the IBIS. However, you do have extra resolution for stabilising in post, if working in 4k for example.
@Wildridefilms9 ай бұрын
@@PicturesInABoxAtHome I am not talking about the open gate 4:3 full sensor 5.7k, I'm asking about the 16:9 mode.
@PicturesInABoxAtHome9 ай бұрын
@@Wildridefilms Hi. As far as I am aware, there is no 5.7K 16:9 option. The highest resolution that's natively in the 16:9 aspect ratio that the GH6 can record is UHD, 3840 by 2160 pixels. The IBIS at this resolution is very good. Obviously, you could choose to crop either the 5.8K open gate (5760x4320) 4:3 footage, but this maxes out at 30fps, or the 5.7K (5728x3024) 17:9 footage, which does go up to 60fps. If you were to crop, you could also add some stabilisation in post. I've not carried out any 'scientific' testing but I would say the IBIS is not quite as good at the higher resolutions, i.e. above C4K, but it is still very usuable. When I have the time, I'll test this and upload the results.

A very underrated and not well known telelens. It’s one of my favourites next to my ‘old’ Olympus 4/3 50-200 2.8-3.5. It’s razorsharp and feels solid and it has internal focus as a bonus. It’s in my bag all the time. I bought it second hand with no regrets ever. Thank you for your relaxed video. I’m a photographer and don’t do video.

It's cool that you found the video relaxing. The Panasonic Lumix G X Vario PZ 45-175mm is a great value and compact lens, with a useful range for both video and photography with decent sharpness, stabilisation, build quality and handling. I definitely recommend it. I'm a hybrid shooter, if you have the time, please check out my other videos on my channel. I've got lots of content to upload to KZfaq in the coming weeks.
