You don’t need Targaryen Blood to claim a dragon if you’re Velaryon and have Velaryon blood you can claim a dragon, before the doom of Valyria dragon riders were referred to as the blood of Velyria the only reason people associate Targaryens directly with dragons is because they wore the first to leave Valyria with dragons after the doom, Corleys married in to the family with Rhaenys and dosent have any direct Targaryen ancestors nether do Alyn or Adam, Steve Toussaint Corly and Abubakar Salim Alyn have both spoken about it, it was also confirmed in an interview by the show creator Ryan J. Also having Valyrian blood in general is what allows the riders to bond with the dragons, it doesn’t have to be House Targaryen specifically. The Velaryons are ethnically Valyrian. Not all houses and families in Old Valyria were dragon riders and house Targaryen weren’t the only Valyrian house to ride dragons (in fact if I recall correctly they were more of a minor house like house Mormont for example) they just happened to be the only dragon riding family that survived the doom which they used to their advantage.

I personally think the visions are a manifestations of Daemon’s guilt and regrets, they all happen to be pivotal moments in his life in which he handled poorly. For example I believe Rhaenyra’s manifestation being that of her younger self is a way of symbolizing her innocence and vulnerability which Daemon took advantage of for his own gain, something he’s alluded to himself “you were a child”. Daemon is struggling to take accountability for his actions and therefore suffering their consequences and the visions are a form of punishment for his hubris (something Harren the Black was guilty of as well). I firmly believe once he finally removes his bindings of pride, admits to his mistakes, and accepts his humility with grace it will clear his conscience (kind of like what he did in his last vision with Viserys by admitting he was sorry he wasn’t there for him) and then the visions will stop. He is stubborn but we can see the cracks forming and I believe he will be a better man for it in the end once he finally takes responsibility and stops blaming others for his failures and shortcomings.
