In the video where you mentioned another Emirates cabin crew making disparaging remarks about you behind your back, you decided to 'stay in your lane' and not cause any more trouble. That phrase has guided me through so many decisions where I had to decide was it worth it to do something or just let it go. Just wanted to say you never know how your words can impact somebody else in such a positive fashion.

Hi Michelle-is-my-name. I'm just coming across your video and I absolutely salute your bravery and honesty. I hope you don't get/didn't get harassed or unkind treatments from Emirates or other people. Also, I totally believe you when you said you were the only black person. They are a very pretentious airline, for people who go on and on about diversity. They only hire mostly white south Africans, or North Africans (Morocco, Algeria, Egypt), as if everyone from Africa looks like that. They hardly ever hire west Africans or in your case, people from Kenya, which is not fair, because they have a very high number of Nigerians who use their airlines daily, and i mean a very high number. Also, for an airline that sponsors real Madrid, one of the clubs that has a high number of black players, yet they only bring out the white flight attendants whenever they have something to do with the club. It's unfair that this discrimination still exists, as much as people don't want to talk about it, or keep shushing it up. I love your content. ❤❤

Thank you so very much for taking time to leave this comment and for highlighting these issues that I’ve always spoken about but either people don’t care enough or they don’t believe me. Some people thought I made this video because I was bitter about Emirates laying me off,but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. I got alot of love and support which I’m grateful for and the occasional bad comment here and there which I can definitely handle 🙂💪🏾 Thank you again…I hope one day someone holds them accountable and they stop getting away with this
@user-mo6pk1pb3o9 күн бұрын
@@MichelleisMyName thank you for your response too. It's not their fault really. If only Africans could also be united toward each other and not discriminate against each based on complexion. Unfortunately, this is not the case. A black man would rather be seen with a woman from another race for example, so long as she's lighter than him and will give him mixed race children. They treat other women/people from other places nicer, and when it's to their own people, they treat them badly. And when people see these behaviours, they take advantage of it as well. I'm glad you got a lot of support from people based on the video, and I'm also glad you were able to experience being a cabin crew at some point in your life too lol 😊. As for Emirates and their hypocrisy and pretentious towards people of colour, I hope, like you said, one day they'll get called put for it and be held totally accountable for their actions. 🙏

What you call burnout I would call a complete nervous breakdown. And at the end of this podcast, after you read from Timothy, it occurred to me that if you know in your heart and soul that you're on the right path, it doesn't always have to make sense. Knowing absolutely that you're on the right path is enough...

You mentioned in the previous video that you are born again Christian. I imagine you have strong ties to your church. Your speaking ability is superior. Have you thought of public speaking for the church? You really ought to look into it as you have presence and determination. And you are so well spoken. Many Americans are put in the shade by your command of English!

Ms. Michelle, Wow, I can only say wow! I love your truth, your honesty, your realness. I am in.International Purser for a major international American airline,there is so much similarity between emirates and my carrier. In the sense of the facade. Thank you for taking the time to post. I love your videos if you ever come into the states, or or flying anywhere internationally, and plan to be on my airline. Please let me know. I will make sure that the flight attendants, as well as myself take great care of you. Have an amazing day. Adam

If a company or a personal relationship has no empathy BEWARE. You should never have to put up with undue stress or be afraid in your environment. It's abuse. They would have to change if no one put up with the narcissism behavior. Watch out for age discrimination as well. When people stay it sets their standard. You deserve good fitting shoes on top of everything else.

Hello Michelle, Thank you for sharing your experience. I have been interested in working for Emirates since I was in middle school-my family and I have flown with Emirates in the past. After having listened to your story, I am now second-guessing going for the job…I am hesitant now about applying because partially because of I’m worried about being discriminated against because I am also from Africa, but especially because as someone who studies psychology and understands the importance of having empathy for people, I’m worried about how they’ll treat me as an employee.

Only those who have been there can truly understand what you are saying....the pressure, the fatigue, the fear of get reported, the minimum rest thing, the tears...the addiction to shopping for shopping.....All this is not intended to discourage people from applying but to let them be aware of the reality and to be prepared for that. People usually don't talk about this side of the job so thanks you did. hope you all the best in life❤
