Appreciate that you talked about frametimes. Rendering something like your hud doesn't take a constant number of FPS, it takes a constant (ish) number of milliseconds or microseconds. Using framerate as a metric is just confusing and misleading.

I think it's time to go back to 1990s-2000s graphics where there was an entirely separate 2D graphics pipeline. That way the UI should have no impact to the fps as long as if it's not being bottlenecked!

Unironically when I disabled the GPU Acceleration of Discord i won 25-30 FPS, I hade like 315 maximum and then 340. Its a good one xD

I don't think its a issue of polys gpus hate alphas, and when you render the gun on it's own render buffer then layering that buffer on top of the render could cause that few fps lag maybe valve is layering them on cpu but I have no idea lol thats just a theory a

To be annoying, I could ask about the difference in impact to fps made by new gunmodels and old ones. Since the gunmodels got revamped with the release of CS2, but you can still play with the old ones if you use an older skin that has not been transferred to the new models.

I think a big take away from this video is that first person models cull the world and are not simply just drawn last on top of everything. Not sure if that is the norm nowadays.

this is not suprising.. take a look of minecraft.. remove its hud u will get 2k fps.. put it back u get back 1.5+ fps... dota 2 also.. open the shop the fps will drop.. hud in game are really taxing.. on most games.. because it stays on the screen.. always on render always active.

If you use 480*1080 res on cs2 with viewmodel_fov 54 you literaly have no viewmodel (except when you reload, use negev, and switch to knife) This is the closest thing you got to a "no viewmodel" experience in cs2

my pc died recently, so i got ahold of an old laptop. i can run Rogue Company, Valorant, and Fortnite at low settings 100+fps, but when i get on cs2 and switch to stretched 1280x768 or lower im not even getting constant 60 on lowest settings. its actually insane.
