The point using blackboard paint is so you can use chalk to colour it and change it if you want..

Do you know what the new decibel level is? Where I live its part of the mot, restriced to 85dbls, or have spare standard pipes. I get 170 miles before reserve with standard pipes. Whats your cruise control? I cant find one that doesn't interfere with the start button.

Nice informative video. I have to say, I have owned three Harley Davidson Sportsters in my life and they were very LOUD! I found that on long trips the loud exhaust note became tiring after a couple hours of riding. I am a man in my 70's so I bought smaller a V-Star 650. The stock exhaust sounded loud enough for me. I would be a bit reluctant to bore holes in the exhaust as it may affect the back pressure on the exhaust stroke possibly making the engine run lean which in the long run may shorten the service life of the engine. I would say if boring the holes makes the bike louder without damage or changing the jets then by all means go for it.

Either a hex key with extension bar or in this case as I had replaced with marine grade bolts, a 13mm socket with extension bar ...

It's about back pressure, if you keep the system standard then you will run lean, if you go through the second plate then the intake needs to be adjusted.. either a remap or new jets on the carb

@@Gothtecdotcom mines fuel injected so no hassle with the carbs. I'll do some research into a remap. Would this be the same process if I was to install a set of straight pipes?

It sounds worse than stock, it sounds like it is broken. Basically you mangled your original exhaust instead of buying one that is made to sound better and looks clean as well.

That's the stuff! And it's always good to see a chap with workman's hands. Scuffs and scrapes are a badge of honour. I agree that gloves are essential for SOME tasks, but wearing them for EVERYTHING means you're either a male model between engagements or that you're a mechanic whose mind's not on the job! 😁
