Facinating. I think this is what I have. What's the aftercare and downtime like? What shoes can you wear when it's bandaged like this? How long before one could go back to exercise? Cheers.
@thelondonpodiatrist11 күн бұрын
Hi, and great questions. Generally, it's a matter of bathing the toes in warm salty water for a few minutes and changing the dressing (simple dressing) daily for around one week. Usually, the first couple of days, the toe is sore but managed well with painkillers. The bigger bandage is for the first 24-48 hours and can usually fit in sandals or a running shoe. Can return to exercise usually 1-2 weeks later. Thanks for the questions! 🙌

Hi, it will vary, but for skin (athletes foot), terbinafine or miconazole creams usually work well for my patients. I usually advise sticking with one, if there are no signs of improvement after 1 month, change it. Best wishes 🙌

Those nails should’ve been removed months and months ago! However, I do realize that countries with socialized medicine and free healthcare for all of their citizens have to ration healthcare. But to let this person live with this much pain for so long is inexcusable. Thank God for podiatrist’s like this because Lord knows general practitioner doctors or pediatricians don’t know shit about the feet !

What if it is only between the 4th and 5th toe..would you still do all the toes and the heal? Is spray better than the crème? How do you know when it’s getting better and not contagious? Thank you!

Between the 4th and 5th toes is the most common area. If it is definitely only in this area, then could you just treat it there. As long as you're sure. Thanks for commenting! 🙌

I heard there's some kind of brace or something that's put across the top of the nail to help it to grow less curved into the sides. Thanks. 💙

How can I treat cracking foots over 5 years now
@thelondonpodiatristАй бұрын
Hi! Cracked skin on the feet is usually due to thick callus a fissurijg on the heels or maybe fungus drying the skin out. Best to see a podiatrist but generally shaving back any hard skin and then maybe advise urea based cream or antifungal cream. Thanks for your question 🙌

Is this a permanent treatment ?
@thelondonpodiatrist2 ай бұрын
Hi, and good question. The spike was caused by bad cutting, so the problem was likely a one-off. This underlines the treatment method in the video. We discussed that if it recurs, we could then consider a partial nail avulsion with phenol - more invasive and longer healing time, etc. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for the comment 🙌
