The manufacturing tolerances that need to be held to make these things work are incredible.

When I was 13 I had a great skill of wracking my finger in the spinning prop trying to start the engine. Man did that hurt!! The engine was in a purple Cox Mustang Control line airplane. The plane completely made of plastic, The best I was able to do was to get it to do one complete circle without crashing it into the ground.

“In the thousands of an inch” - today’s engines are 2/10000ths if not tighter

Growing up in the 70s, I learned the fine art of how to sting curse words together trying to get/keep these little SOBs running. Those were the days.

I always wanted to make an RC P-38 using .049s because they are cheap and can run either left handed or right handed.

What is we have an old engine with the spray-bar missing? How do we make a start if we have no spray-bar. Might there a DIY substitute we can try?

I had these as a kid in the 60s . You got really good at taking the fuel tank off to clean grit from the reed valve. If there was even the tiniest speck of grit in there the reed wouldn’t seal and the motor would not run. In the later 70s I flew RC planes and on my smaller planes I used the TD engines which were rotary valve and not as temperamental about dirt.

I don’t agree that they are “too large” and should be cut, unless the model is very small.

Clean video. Thanks. This should not be titled "make CA hinges", this should be more appropriately titled "install CA hinges".
