Great job man, exactly what I was looking for. This is how Catalytic converters should be designed. Easy enough to change.

Had the same code on my 2010 Sentra with 243,841 miles on it. Kept erasing it, but kept coming back. So, I looked at the price of a new converter and no way. So, I tried a Jimmy Kilmer trick. Filled up the gas tank, put in a gallon of lacquer thinner from Walmart, and went for a 6 hour, highway speed, trip. Problem solved.
@mikethehobbyist2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, I wonder how long that will last and if it doesn't do any damage to the converter itself, then it's a good strategy I would have not thought of myself.
@drippingwax Жыл бұрын
@@mikethehobbyist That sounds like Scotty Kilmer, popularly called "Shouty." Eric the Car Guy tried that, but only used a quart of lacquer thinner, not a gallon, and it didn't do anything, so if you are going to try it, don't half-do it! Eric also tried cleaning it with hot soapy water. It didn't do any good. He also didn't rinse off the soap, so when he ran the car soap bubbles came out the muffler! :D

Hey bro would your car make a wired noise when on. My makes a rattling noise . I tough it was the tentioner
@mikethehobbyist2 жыл бұрын
That would depend on Where the rattling is coming from and the severity. Also makes sure you aren't hearing injection ticks sometimes it can sound like valve train but it's actually just injectors. I don't think a Tensioner would make a a rattling noise, I can't say much though cause I haven't seen or heard what you are talking about.

Wich socket size did you use?? Do I need a long head socket?? I am replacing my catalytic converter this weekend, any advice??!
@mikethehobbyist2 жыл бұрын
I don't specifically remember as it's been some time since I've done it, it is metric and standard size sockets dont fit. I think its like a 14mm. I used a deep well socket because thats what worked best for me. if you have air tools or know someone with air tools, I would recommend that. Other than pb blaster

Could this be done without removing the intake?
@mikethehobbyist2 жыл бұрын
Hello, thanks for the comment. I would say it's possible without removing the intake if it's California compliant since the o2 sensor is positioned differently. I don't remember how hard the 02 sensor is to get to on the non California compliant version. The time spent removing it would save more time overall to remove it and the heat shroud than to leave it installed. My experience with the bolts for the manifold to cat connection and 02 sensor are hard enough to get to even with the shroud removed. Hope this helps. feel free to ask any other questions.

on my transmission torque strut, that sleeve on top bolt is ceased, I see your old one came off easy, any idea on removing it?
@mikethehobbyist2 жыл бұрын
good question, If its ceased on the bolt i would spray it with pb-blaster or wd-40, and try to either break it by cutting the old rubber away and grabbing it with channel locks/vice grips or sometimes rapping the head of the bolt can shock it enough to make it come free. that is what i would do first. thanks for commenting😀

Not on California compliant models, sadly. California compliant cats systems have the upstream cat integrated into the exhaust manifold. Therefore you have to pull the entire manifold just to get the upstream cat out.
