An army near and dear to my heart! Thanks for finally covering Romania! I only have one comment, the cool outflanking a turn early rule, at least as written, does not apply to transports, meaning if you want the bonus your troops have to be on foot. It also only applies to cavalry, mountain troops and motorized sections...so not the pioneers. Its a bummer, could have been a really fun rule that would have made giving up the OG axis support/free medium howitzers a fair trade.
@TabletopTommies28 күн бұрын
Whoops! That is such a shame, and ironic that the motorised sections are slower if they have a transport... I guess the best use for flank attack then is to load up on Mountain troops and rush them forward through rough ground at the end of turn 2, ready for a turn 3 charge? Jonny

Thank you. We did somewhat cover this in the welsh nationals episode of the podcast, but perhaps a battle report might give us the time to really dive into turn by turn tactics... 🤔

Personally I like each one of my models to be unique and posed differently, but I’m not a tournament player and I can see how having every special model posed the same way for easy recognition makes sense for gameplay purposes. They’re going to look great on the table! Good luck!
@TabletopTommiesАй бұрын
Thank you. I must admit, I like it both ways. I have a Sealion Brandenburger army where nearly every model is a unique sculpt. But for things where you have lots of the same type of unit, you are absolutely right. For example, having all the ampulomets be identical in pose and basing really does reduce the brain space trying to find them and line up their arcs of fire just right on the table. Jonny

Crazy seeing Dutch at a tournament, not to mention so high!
@TabletopTommiesАй бұрын
My take away is that these lists really show how important the player's ability is in Bolt Action, lots of unexpected lists in the top 10, and "strong" lists in the mid table. Jonny
@uthakgaming8960Ай бұрын
Thank you sir! My list is a response build to an incredibly stale meta. There is realy no point in going toe to toe at eyelevel with brits or soviets in the current rules. They have advantageous/broken rules that will outperform pretty much any other faction at eyelevel 85% of the time. Hence why platoon restrictions and dice caps buff especially brits so much. Spam and rogue picks are a handy tool against them, as most ppl never played vs eg. Dutch. Also the list is very effective at board control/bullying. The Dutch are a hidden gem of the fine dining world haha

Absolutely, usually I'd say that the bottom placed armies are always the best place to find interesting armies, but at the welsh nationals, there were quirky lists all the way to the top.
@tonycowards4689Ай бұрын
Great advice. My one biggest top tip though would be GET ON WITH IT and trust the process. Often a mini will look a bit crap right up to the final stage when it miraculously all comes together. Also, remember that a painted mini will ALWAYS look better than an unpainted mini whatever your painting skill level is.

Any word on the firing smoke rule being updated? The current rule doesn’t make sense. Currently if the smoke round doesn’t land on target the opposing player decides where it lands. The landing point should be randomly determined like it the smoke barrage rule.
@TabletopTommies2 ай бұрын
There's been no further rules released yet. But I agree, scattering 2d6" would be a much better way for smoke to work, and this is usually a house rule in any tournament pack I write. Jonny

Always leave them wanting more! But more seriously, thank you! I have dabbled with some painting and basing videos in the Soviets from Scratch playlist. We are just starting our KZfaq content off the back of the podcast and I am speed building these for the Welsh Nationals this weekend, alongside videoing the progress, so leaning towards shorter videos at the moment. You can expect us to branch out into more video topics, such as rules, tactics, more extensive builds and battle reports in the future, so please keep letting us know the topics you'd like us to cover. How did it do? Did he manage to hit anything or set any tanks on fire?
@tonycowards46892 ай бұрын
Nice. I've had some success with my Soviets fielding three of these twisted firestarters. They tend to keep vehicles away and are pretty good for incinerating infantry. The 24" range makes them a bit limited but good positioning and moving them, if necessary, negates that to a certain extent. Most of all, like you say they are great fun!
