I don't know where this guy ot his information but big boy was NOT the largest most powerful locomotive but was 3rd behind #1 PRR Q2 7980 HP, the Allegheny at 7482 HP and then Big Boy at 6900 HP. Very powerful but not the MOST POWERFUL.

Its crazy to think that most of these controls had very specific reasons for coming into existence....and that often included loss of life.....humbling. This is a supremely beautiful art piece made about a supremely beautiful art piece....I genuflect.

this is one of those channels that makes youtube what it really is/should be. the age of information is possible not just because of the tech that made this viewable on my phone but mainly because of creators like animagraffs who are eager to share with the world.

I would also say that the explanation on the sound barrier when you speed of aircraft starts to exceed the speed at what the air molecules can flex is the best explanation I have seen! Help massively with the visualisation..

Ahhh yes. That damn "restrictor plate" boooooring races now. Those big tracks like Daytona used to be wild. And today's nascar totally sux if u ever saw it back in the 80s and 90s. Or hell even from its beginning was more fun to watch than now. I mean frkn Toyota is in Nascar. They never ran moonshine. Wtf are they doin in there. And on top of that they run an old GM design small block ughhhh. R.I.P. #3

Compared with a schooner, management of this class of Tall Ship is fiendishly difficult. I adore John Masefield's poem with "All that I ask is a tall ship, and a star to steer me by.", but if it were a Tall Ship of the warrior or even clipper class, he'd need a crew as well!

Awesome 3d animations. Check out an article called something like the r 71 R2D2. It is what the culmination of the f35 platform as a mobile military gps nav system network impossible to jam as a collective targeting system. Born out of the sr 71 program. It was held a secret as long as possible and was the reason for the high costs and efforts of Nations attempting social media psy ops to kill the program in congress. Trump wanted it cancelled until he got the full briefing as president. Then he renegotiated the contract instead and let it be.

the CIA formed a fake company in Europe to buy the titanium from the Russians. they supplied us with the material to spy on them not just badass but brilliant as well. I bet a lot of heads rolled on that one.

My father worked on every SR 71 ever built. In 1962 our family was relcoted from Minneapolis to Los Angeles/Burbank and for years my dad was gone for weeks at a time without any knowledge of where he was. Back in the (mid?) 80s I remember watching a movie with him in the theater that showed a glimpse of the spectacular features of this - my all-time favorite - plane. You/ Jacob, should be proud of yourself for putting this masterpiece together! CLEARLY you put an exhaustive amount of effort into putting this together, and for that I am very grateful. It’s WILD to think you would have been put in prison for treason just 30-40 years ago if you share ANY of what you did but now I, and others, have been blessed to finally see what is behind the veil of secrecy. Lastly, and for those who are at all interested in the Skunk Works, read Skunk Works by Ben Rich. I suspect you too will be blown away with how Kelly Johnson was able to do what he did in building this aircraft (in part via his home in, as I recall, Thousand Oaks, CA).

The SR71 is my favorite aircraft of all time, the result of the amazing talent of Kelly Johnson and his team at Skunkworks. Your summary stating the aircraft is the result of what can happen when talent and funding are fully supported illustrates the spirit of this country mid century. Your incredible job of illustrating this amazing aircraft deserves equal praise, I place you and your team in the same company for the excellent job you have done in creating this video. Very well done!!

I had no clue as to all the technology that went inti these steem engines. I worked on the railroad a few uears ago so the newer trains dont have all the valves and such that the dteem engines do. Even the train engineer has it a lot easier. But this was very well done snd quite interesting to me. Yhanks

Astonishing. My grandfather was an engineer draftsman at Electric Boat Company (ELBOCO) at Port Newark, NJ in 1917-1919. He worked on various mechanical designs. He left after the war was over.

The visuals are fantastic, and mechanical parts are beautifully explained, but I beg the creators who focus on delivering scientific or engineering content to the public to run the script and (preferably) finished draft of the video by professionals in the relevant field. The mistakes on physics of air were egregious, and there are plenty of errors on aerodynamics of supersonic flows, effects of various lifting surfaces, behavior of separating flows, and so on. This could have easily been avoided with a proof-read by an aeronautical engineer with specialization on supersonic aerodynamics. This video would have been not just spectacular, but valuable as educational tool with these errors addressed, and I'm sure a channel with over a million subscribers can find an expert to run things by.
