Exactly! I'll wear Versace Man Eau Fraiche during the day and Versace Dylan Blue in the evenings. Versace just works for me. I get compliments on both more than any other I wear.

Timely and important vid. People as a whole are struggling in the modern world, especially men. Mind you, I’m not some nostalgia bro who wants 1953 back, but I recognize the issue is way, way worse these days. Guys, never be afraid to ask for help, to seek help. And don’t give up. Life can always get better, and if you’re at a low, only direction you have is to move up. I see divorce being mentioned in some comments. Been there, done that. And know what? That was the nicest thing that woman ever did for me. Many years later now, I’m far happier, far more successful, and am happily married to a woman actually worth being married to. Don’t let a low make you give up. Soldier on. It can and will get better. Don’t sit around when you’re low. Get out and do something. Go for a walk in a park. Go grab a meal at a bar (no alcohol required) and socialize with random people at the bar next to you. Buy tickets to a sporting event and go, or watch the event at a sports bar showing it. Go see a local band play. Go walk around the aisles at Home Depot and get ideas for some basic projects to fix your place up. Anything, just get out, get moving. Don’t sit and stew. Best wishes everyone.

I have a nightly call at 6pm with a buddy, it's a combo work day debrief (hate to sound like an agile retro, but it is how we can communicate) and then we go into just things on our minds. It's 15 minutes, it's on a schedule, and something solid to look for every day. When the weekend comes, we shed it and go grab a bite, take a drive, or do something. In an uncertain world that both hates us and expects us to have all the answers and then do it all, we need to look out for our team. If it sounds rough, the next day we go get together and do something easy, just to break the cycle. Also any kind of hobby or artistic expression helps a lot too.

I, too, was born in the 60s. I did a career in the military. We had no room for feelings, etc. If you complained, you'd get the standard answer of "Suck it up" or "Do you need a tampon?" Probably why the military suicide rates are high. Anyway, I am glad that now that I am older, I have been able to receive some help and realize it isn't a weakness to need or to ask for that help.

I think we all go through anxiety/depression at some point as we age. The degree may vary but we will go through it. Talking helped me to family/friends/neighbors, basically anyone who would listen. Also questioning the way you feel may help as well. Are there facts to back up your depression/anxiety and if so what are steps that can be taken to correct them. I think for me it was a feeling of not doing/being enough. I had to change my mindset to that i'm doing the best i can and not being so rigid and hard on myself. I hope all the best for all of you. Thank you so much for this video!

As a 42 year old man who is fit and with a ton of qualities, you're certainly not getting any younger women on the dating apps. My age always ends up being a source of objection, even when they're heavily into me. The moment the age topic comes up, no amount of humor, teasing, and playfulness stems the tide. She'll laugh, but she'll insist on getting a number - and they're stuck on their principles. Say the wrong number, and you're disqualified. You can lie, but I've come across women demanding my ID on the very first date. It's slim picking out there. What's hilarious is when I ask women what age they think I am, they usually say between 34 to 38. However, that "over 40" number seems to trigger something, dark, in a woman. The women claim they want romance, maturity, seriousness, adventure, and a man who can provide for a family, however their actions when it comes to screening men say otherwise. Hiding my age on the dating app seems to cause more harm than good, apparently that's weird and creepy to women - somehow. Because by not providing my age they're worried that I'll be a serial murderer - somehow.

John, the national suicide hotline is 988. While I understand sponsorship is important, saving a fellow man's life can't be measured in mere dollars. I wrote a poem about this issue a month ago and referenced the 4x rate for men. Good to get the word out there. We're all in this together.

I morbidly read the obits while I'm lighting the fire. So often i read about a young guy, wife and kids, or not, who had everything going for him. It will say "died suddenly at home" or something similar. At the bottom, it will usually say "Donations may be made to The Canadian Mental Health Society" . You know right away. It breaks me up every time, and I hadn't even known the poor dude. Thanks John

Great video on covering this topic. I have thought about self deletion in the past, but I concluded that it's not worth it and that I would rather work on my goals and dreams before anything like that happens. It is sad to see some of the toxic social media mock this issue and in some cases even celebrate self deletion. I just tune it out and go into nature to get me through the day.

hey John. wondering what you think about sock length this summer. I've been wearing no-shows with white sneakers, but it seems like longer socks (such as a short crew) are more popular now with young guys. what do you think for guys our age? thanks again for all the great videos.

Great video and great tips! Another tip however is watch people who are doing better and coming out of their depression episode. Statistics show that people who are in that stage are most likely to commit suicide. They have back some energy to go out and do something.

John, you're just a kid! (2 years younger than me 😅😅😅). The younger generation are soft! Ha ha ha. This video is one of the biggest reason why I follow you. This subject is something that is near and dear to my heart looking at it, and coming VERY CLOSE numerous times. As a Vet, these numbers are significantly greater than the ones you've presented us. My #1 saving is my 2 cats, but one is gone now. And I don't know how I'm going to react when its here time as it could come any day. Plus, I've been in counseling since 1995/96 with varied results. That said, keep on doing this work. It does help. Legend, out.

Why? i am a citizen of the world, speak many languages and have achieved incredible things in my life, but also love to dress a bit different. Living in Italy, I have learnt how to dress and look good, which is easier when you are in great shape. . You are actually educating America!!

800K people die by suicide every year? 😮🙁💔 That's incredible... but not in good way of course. You would think the US population would decrease each year because of that statistic but we're still over 300 million and I digress.😐😟 I have to say John, with the exception of the Olympics, when Men compete, there's no 2nd and 3rd place, only 1st. Men just kept competing and competing in life until they finally won or grew exhausted in the race of life. Questions are raised after a certain amount of time about one's worthiness and value in our Society. What's wrong with me? Why can't I come out a winner or better? Is there room in this world for a man with less to show or offer? Is it true that Nice Guys always finish last? A legendary R&B Singer once said "Only the Strong Survives" Mental Health pays a devastating price sometimes.

Just about everything in the western world today is telling men/boys that they are worthless - entertainment, media, schools, workplaces, etc. We as men need to REJECT the notion that we are inherently bad, toxic, ____phobic (fill in the blank), privileged and dumb. Be proud of who you are. There is no one correct way to be a man and there is no reason to put yourself down or make yourself smaller in order to conform to someone else's idea of proper social hierarchies. Since the dawn of civilization, men have had a dominant, leading, important role in society and there is no shame in asserting that men are the most important to the development and maintenance of civilization today. For every accomplishment by a woman, there are literally dozens/hundreds of accomplishments by a man. Men, don't let anyone diminish your light. We have earned our roles as the leaders of society without relying on quotas and handouts.
