This was in March. We know we were there during rainy season. The mountain biking was still amazing even with some wet trails!

The saturation of travelog videos like this of Telluride has transformed the town from the quiet, charming, secluded community it used to be into one of back to back festivals, massive crowds, and skyrocketed lodging rates. The secret is out. Telluride is no longer the quaint little secret escape of the Rockies. The crush of overcrowding, especially in the summer, has robbed it of the charm it had not so long ago...before the flood of travelog videos. Been going for a while each summer for over 20 years, so we've watched and experienced it. Bummer.😢

There is almost no chance that this vlog accounted for the large tourist explosion you have seen. I’m sorry that Telluride isn’t how you remember it being but it’s still a great place to hang out and explore the outdoors.

@OutOfThisVan Of course not just this one. There are scores now, and the effect is cumulative over the years. It's possible that the crush and explosion of lodging pricing influenced a reduction of tourism volume, as Telluride was the only destination among the Colorado resort communities to see a reduction in bookings last year. Perhaps there has been a market "correction " of sorts. Can't tell you first hand, as we had to miss last year due to a new job. But we'll know in a couple of weeks when we get there. ;-) Telluride is even a lot better than you describe, thanks to Mother Nature. It's kept us coming back for a long time.

Nice! I’m planning a trip there next next month. How were the quality of the rental bikes? Do they have any dedicated bike parks or just natural single track?

Our bikes were great. Melanny was on a Stumpjumper and I rode a specialized Status. They have a lot more trails than what we rode. Not sure if they have a bike park but they have something for everyone. It’d be best to reach out to Simon at trailhunters.co and he’d be able to give more details. He was a great communicator throughout the whole process and is knowledgeable about the whole region.

The drone shots were from Twin Sisters trail which is part of the Colorado Trail. The aspen shots were near Leadville at Twin Lakes North.
