I use to be able to draw one line and lose my patience and give up now I can’t even draw that line without wanting to throw the pencil or mouse across the room

but how do you fill in the thicker lines of your subject? like how did you find the lines you wanted to fill to give it shape or like the outline. I know it sounds like a dumb question. is that just with a nice thicker pen or calligraphy or something?
@alphonsodunnКүн бұрын
Thicker lines and finding the lines to give shape can be two different concerns. I’m trying to understand. For thicker lines, you use a pen with a bolder point size or apply more pressure to increase the line weight. To fill in the shape, you follow the contour of the form and make your lines much closer

Wait so how do you sharpen a pencil like that?

I have drawn since I was a small child, and my advice is do whatever works for you. For example, one often see artist using a pencil with the lead sticking way out of the pencil, I have never found this to be of any benefit to me, but some people do for whatever reason. Take ideas from here and there, see what works for you and then do it your own way.

Books 1 & 2 are legitimately some of the best pen and ink manuals out there. People in 2120 are going to be buying them, same as many of the century-old manuals out there today.

Im not saying this video is going to automatically gonna to transform my art skills but after watching many videos on youtube this video finally made it click what gesture is really about. When u see other ppl explain gesture and make these almost perfect art work u may think that if yours doesnt look presentable its not good but after seeing him do it and really emphasis how it's not suppose to be clean, how it's suppose to quick, how you're suppose to be move swiftly it finally clicked. I'm having fun doing gestures!

Good heavens i am super stiff when i draw. I cant relax for some reason. And i just use the tri Grip aka writing. 😅 And i am Super unoriginal. Cant think of shapes the way you seem to do it. I just start doing random wavy lines with no thought put in to them.

I refer to your guide and workbook all the time. Yesterday I was inspired by your Van Gogh sketch of starry night and I tried to render several Van Gogh paintings in ink. Very fun. I don’t use pencil any longer as I erase too much. Thank you for the content!
