This is one of the best Pilot 823 videos - for someone looking to purchase one - that I’ve seen to date. So well explained. I bought the Amber in. F because some people were raving about it and it’s a gorgeous pen. It was the first premium fountain pen I bought and I didn’t know my preferences. It’s sooooo buttery smooth for even a F nib, the color and the weight is perfect for me ( a woman)…but I find myself not reaching for it as much as I do with my Esties and Leonardo’s in EF or F. You’ve explained well that there is a difference in Japanese nibs and so I have been contemplating that the M in Japanese pens might be the sweet spot for me. The European M is too broad for my handwriting. Thank you for also explaining the vacuum release system. I had mine open a little bit at first and I started thinking my pen was defective! I since learned that it has to be open more than I would’ve felt comfortable at first but it writes like a dream now. ❤

Great video!! My Leonardo came today. While I was hoping it was more like the colors of your pen, I got more purple,blue and green in my blank. It is very beautiful but I like your pen color better. I have ordered stormwinds blanks before and the 2 colors I got did not have much variation in them so it was exactly like the pen maker’s website. I order a lot of custom pens and usually I’m ok with the resins being different. Hope I grow to love this pen once I ink it up and start to write with it!!

By happenstance, we have the same nibs on each of the different colors, lol. My purchase started w/the amber model (my first FP(!)), then the smoke, and finally, the clear (also purchased overseas...nice that it's available stateside now). Fun vid and good info...thanks!

Congratulations!!! If you want to get the nib tuned, I would suggest going to a pen show in person and getting a pro to fix it and adjust it to exactly how you write. I love that this is in memory of your granny... I feel you and feel the same way about my late grandma. ❤

Beautiful. My birthday is in July so the Ruby-ish color is everything it should be. I would not send it to MB. My guy friend has sent two pens to them and they weren’t repaired and he ended up just using a nibmister to get it the way he wanted it. Even the associate at the store didn’t feel strongly knowledgeable. It’s a gorgeous pen and I’m sure granny would approve of your memento

The scraping threads are a you problem. Tuey beed to be close so the pen oid will fit correctly

A very beautiful pen. Love the matching nail colour.Thank you for showing it. Momento magico is the one model from Leonardo I don't like. The dimensions smaller than what i prefer. If it were a Momento Zero, I would have got one. It was a relief actually, because I just recently picked up the Atlas stationers exclusive Leonardo MZ Golden abalone.

Mine just arrived today and it is amazing to see the colour variation in these pen, mine is so much more green and blue with almost no purple. I was hoping for a more purple one but I do like my blank & it means I get to go ink shopping because I don't have a single ink that matches the pen.

Ahhhh sooo beautiful! Bummer it's not everything you had ecpected. I personally like it without the green, since I love the blue/pink/purple combo. please let me know if you decide to sell it! LOL

I‘m really tempted to buy this pen, but I have the Momento Zero Grande 2.0 Galattica Universe and I think they are somewhat similar, so I will pass on the Bella di Notte. It would also be an import (US -> Germany) for me and the price including all fees is just too much for my budget right now. ;) I need to stop buying the US exclusive pens for a while, I think. :D Yours is a gorgeous pen though, thanks for showing it to us ! :)

I bought this pen the day it came out and absolutely love it! As soon as I got it I inked it up with a pretty pink shimmer ink (FWP Blushing Blossom) and it works great! When it comes to buying hand mixed resins without seeing in person I will only do it if it is either a uniform mix like just shimmer in a translucent resin (think the ascension wing blank from Stormwinds) or if I like all the colors in the blank so I don’t mind if I get more of one than the other. Like I don’t like brown and orange too much so if I am looking at a pen that has orange mixed in with other colors I am not buying online because I don’t want to get a pen that is 70% orange.

I think yours is so pretty! But I totally know what you mean; when we have a specific picture in our minds and it doesn't match that, it feels a little disappointing. I just ordered one of these, and it definitely feels like a gamble.

I love the budgies 🦜 & your words, so many ppl on KZfaq apologize for not filming or for being undecided about decoration etc 😳 I use yr at a glance for travel 🚗 , if I leave town, I write town initials & why ,example (Jer/Dr) to keep track of fuel/kms for work/personal use = a record. I circle ⭕️ dates in red for my cycle and section at top = I write hubby and my pays💰that month. Down the bottom anything expensive we did that month 📲🏡🛻🎮 quick reference.

I agree, I would have wanted one with more blue and green! I love that your thought process is very similar to mine! I take myself through those exact same thoughts when I see a handmade blank made pen fresh out of the box! I even did it with the Pelikan Moonstone I just purchased 😅 I always take my new purchases to my desk lamp then natural lighting before I confirm my choices and BAM, that sparkle gets me under its spell every time. My Leonardo Planetary Nebula is one where I LOVE the body but the cap was just so so for me. I had Kirk Speer put an Imperial grind on it and now it’s one of my absolute favorites. My Visconti Kaleido Unicorn Galaxy has half the cap with no blue/purple swirl…. it is just clear with the big fat sparkles. At first I was bummed, but now I enjoy it because I think of it as a nib “show off” window. I could tell you a story about almost every one of my pens 😂 I will have to say, I did decide this year that any material with swirls or such I need to see pictures and videos of the exact pen I am getting. No more expensive gambles for me! There will always be another beautiful resin that will be made! I swear, this pen hobby is an adventure 🎉❤

Thanks Sarah! The different versions of this pen are lovely, although they give different vibes. I ran into this with the Candy Estie. The promo photos for the regular size and the oversize had such a different pattern that I thought it was too risky. For this Leonardo the variations might not matter as much.

As a pink and purple lover, this is the perfect mix without the greens and blues mixing in too much. But I agree, if you loved the green and blues touching as in the stock photos, this is disappointing. But the fact that it’s so different like this makes others hope for either more blue, more pink, no blue, etc. on their lottery. So it’s a very very difficult thing to satisfy everyone’s preferences. You either love yours, hate it, or learn to love what you got. So I definitely save mine and don’t ink it up if I don’t like it and return it for a better one. I’ve had to do that with my Persephone, and it worked out nicely! Really love your version of this blank. And I agree, Goldspot does a great job in giving us more than just one stock photo that features the best pen. I really appreciate that and it helped me to avoid this one because it’s too risky of a resin design. Thank you for sharing❤

I have number 136/170 and almost sent mine back because I wanted it to be more purple but I have since fallen in love with mine. It is mostly this gorgeous pinky gold with a bit of seafoam but it is light, not vividly colored like yours. The nib is great and I love writing with it. I love Leonardos! I am glad I kept mine - it is a totally different color from yours but I asked her to pick me out the most beautiful one they had left! It is amazing when the light shines on it. I got a medium nib because that’s my jam. Yours is gorgeous.

Out of all the possibilities, I prefer the version you received! 😅 I rarely purchase swirly resin pens nowadays since they do vary so widely like you said. I just love watching others unbox them and I’ll be pleasantly surprised along with the actual customer 😂

When I saw this on FPT I knew you were gonna end up with it….i just knew it. I want a Leonardo, but I’d have to buy it in person, too outside my comfort zone to spend that kinda $$$$& and not love it when it arrives
