The pair i received from have done real well! Was a slow start but they've made alot of fry! I should probably try to find some hopefully less related specimens

nice i like it. i would also prob rais something under it as well haha.
@pyleaquatics29 күн бұрын
I definitely thought about that. The only problem is getting it back out from under there.

It looks like a nice setup. I've tried ferns but didn't have any success so will be interesting to see how they work for you.

Lots of good info here. I’ve got my first killis arriving later this week and it’s two pairs of young F. gardneri ‘P82’. This should help me start off right with them. Thanks!

Hey Pyle I have some fry that I found while moving stuff around do you think you would be able to tell me if you think they are killi fry? I worry that guppy fry stuck to my net and snuck in to my killi tank.
@pyleaquatics5 ай бұрын
Maybe. It will depend on how big they are and how good of a photo you can get. What species of killifish do you think it could be? Send a photo to [email protected] .

I love using algae with my fry too! I find it hides them very well and holds an incredible amount of microorganisms.

I really want to try my hand at a larger killifish. I feel like I'm aiming high trying to breed clowns first.
@pyleaquatics8 ай бұрын
I was just talking to Papa Shrimp, and he is having good luck reading them. I've never actually bred them, so I'm not a very good person to ask. Contact him, and I'm sure he'll be glad to help. Gardneri would be a great Killifish to start breeding. youtube.com/@PapaShrimpTX33?si=vmTmcdQuPy5GVerK

I’m new to all this fish thing but interested in how this kind of stuff is done in shops, all you have done is swap glass tanks for plastic tanks. So am I right in thinking, you have a pond pump, pumping water into the tanks, which then over flow and the cycle start again? How would you add heat to all this if needed? How do you decide on the flow of water to the plastic tanks? Suppose you could use the main bottom tank to grow plants?
@pyleaquatics8 ай бұрын
Some of that is answered in the video. Heating would be easy. You just stick a heater in the bottom sump.

@@pyleaquatics I’ve had a look online, eBay and Amazon, in the U.K. I can’t find a box that long, I don’t even know where to start looking for the pipe connections. This is a great set up.

@@pyleaquatics how long have you used this set up? I wasn't sure bout the PP rating of 5 on these...thought 5 wasn't the best for food grade stuff...which I see fish as similar needs?

@Mrsboncouer around 18 months. There are no signs of any problems.

Gunna comment as I taped to see what the vid was about. A container is a container (cuase .. aussy mindset) I put 3 30lt flat containers together to grow aquaponic seedlings... Turned out that they are great for raising fish as your vid is showing :) it has no filter, mediums or air bubbler
@pyleaquatics8 ай бұрын
If you really understand what's going on, your system does have a biological filter unless you clean it before beneficial bacteria has a chance to grow. Every surface that is wet is your filter.
