At 0:59, I hate what her voice does but otherwise it's perfect! Beautiful. Though Id ditch the "get the timing right" way of how she sings it. Id keep it more melancholy melody wise, and definitely add background vocals that come out in the chorus that sound angelic. The music is also screaming for a rise in the music to get more complex by adding a few more things like the beat and string additions. Hope she would do that or someone who can make that would give it a try.

I relate to this song a lot.. Rant warning: I have TMAU and it really took my life away. Some people online who have TMAU try to reassure me by saying other people have it worse than me such as cancer and that they would rather have TMAU to see their child for another day. I understand the analogy but you can't just invalidate my feelings as well. I'd rather have cancer and have my days numbered rather than having fear of going outside. Everyday is a nightmare. I force myself to go to school knowing that I will get many bad reactions. I chose a course that involves a lot of social interaction and I now started to regret chasing after my dreams but I can't shift to a different course because my parents invested too much in my education. I know if I stay I'd only end up jobless cause BO can get someone fired.. even if it's a medical condition. In the end, it sounds like a coping mechanism. Telling yourself people have it worse feels like a coping mechanism. Although it's the truth, my situation is just as bad. Imagine being the type of person that befriends everyone in class, outgoing, extrovert to now a hermit.. I don't really think anyone read this lol but it feels good to type it out and vent 😢

there are a lot of meanings to this song, especially this one. you know that one time you got a paper cut? it obviously hurt, right? melanie here when she made this song, she wanted people to know that this song is about how you get hurt from something very small. which is normal in life, a paper cut is just like getting hurt when you accidentally poke your eye with a pencil. that extremely hurts yet it sounds like something small. things in life can hurt even from the smallest things.

trigger warning- s/h & suicide i interpret this song to be about self harm, or at least self deprecating practices. in an unhealthy way, crybaby is talking to herself (or maybe to another kid about trauma in an overly casual manner because she herself conditions her mind using the same unhealthy coping). she’s doing this to rationalize her coping methods (cutting) and playing down her own traumatic experiences by using dramatic depictions of “hypothetical” (these may have happened to her) scenarios. i do think it’s obvious that crybaby was neglected “i know you miss those kisses.” this “don’t be sad it’s really not that bad for you, it’s only just a little paper cut or two” can symbolize her preparing to s/h and attempting to calm herself. “there are so many fishes” i think this line is referring to her looking into a river or large body of water, preparing to drown herself, and absently noticing the amount of fish in the water, mentally distracting herself from the gravity of the decision that she’s contemplating overall there is a theme of downplaying the severity of traumatic events, removing herself from these bad situations, and disassociating from the pain by feeding herself distractions and attempting to make her trauma seem less so that she doesn’t have to cope with it so rawly.
