One of the coolest bits of Fourth Ideal foreshadowing is in the Kal flashback when him and Lirin have to amputate the girls finger to save the hand. It’s her third finger, which would be the Fourth if you count the thumb. Kal gets his first lecture on caring too much and essentially accepting what they cannot save: “Lirin often said that a wise surgeon must know what to remove and what to save. If that third finger had been set properly at first … but no, it was beyond recovery. Sewing it back together would mean leaving it to fester and die.” There’s even better foreshadowing during the scene where they work on Roshone and his son, which I think telegraphs all of the Ideals (including the Fifth), but I’ll post that on the Shard.

Hoid definitely respects the Heralds above anyone else, they sacrificed themselves for the greater good, and his purpose on Roshar is basically to keep the oath pact in place for the sake of the wider universe. TBH the Heralds are more worthy of 'worship' than the Shards.

One thing I picked up on with my latest TWoK reread is the subtle foreshadowing of Gaz being a lightweaver. Theres a passage in his pov talking about the monsters he sees in the space he lost his vision. And when Kaladin lies to him Gaz is like "did something move?"

Forgive me for being late to the party having just finished sunlit man but here's a theory on "special investiture" We know from Rhythm of War that there are ways to mix different types of investiture to create new hybrid investitures. We also know that there are many different states of investiture. We see in Rhythm of War that to create these hybrid investitures requires process that are akin to conducting a chemical reaction in a lab (mixed with Intent). The knowledge of how to make hybrid lights had eluded both humans and singers for thousands of years and even the Thaylens were very secretive about their techniques to manipulate even just stormlight. It stands to reason that you could theoretically make different types of hybrid investiture, including not just mixing 2 types of investiture. You could theoretically mix 3, 4, 5...16. This works out to 65'535 unique types of investiture that could possibly exist (plus an accompanying 65'535 types of anti-investirute). Based on how long it took people to figure out just mixing 2 types in the same state (light) on the same planet then it seems clear the process to make another arbitrary type of hybrid investiture would be very difficult and a closely guarded secret. Even knowledge that a new type of hybrid investiture had be stabilized in any way would likely be top secret information. For example, imagine you wanted to combine cultivation, honor, and endowment investiture. One could imagine first creating towerlight then trapping that in an awakened gemstone. One could also imagine a million reasons why this would not work or have complications. So perhaps instead you use lifelight to first manifest something like the vines cultivation spren leave, then awaken that to stabalize the crystals that are left behind, and take that into a highstorm while singing the proper tones. Again, you could imagine a million reasons this wouldn't work either. My point is it seems likely that Rosharan, Scadrian, and Silverlight scholars alike are all performing many experiments and scientific inquiries along these lines and are absolutely not willing to share their findings freely. To me this is reinforced when Nomad removes Elegy's investiture - you can read it as removing whatever foreign investiture was used to make the cinderheart (maybe some Ruin mixture with the comparison to Kolos?) and leaving just Canticle's (Ambition's?) investiture. All that is to say, I personally think "proprietary investiture" is very much on the right track but may be far more complicated than it first seems.

Szeth onc refurs to the gods of the "sun" and "stars". Maybe that has come connection to the "starlight" curse.

My possibly crack theory is that before the shattering the dawn shards were a single command “be”, which adonalsium used to create everything then spit from its self, becoming the dawnshard, the first shard, which 20 people together used to shatter adonalsium, and splitting it into the 4 dawnshards of modern cosmere in the process. I say 20 people because the 16 vessels plus one for each dawnshard (including hoid)

This idea of willingness reminds me of how organic material and humanoid shapes are more receptive to Awakening.

Here's a theory for you. Renarin will say more words and he will evolve his future sight so that he can use stormlight to achieve the same effects an allomancer has while burning atium, therefore becoming the only warrior capable of defeating Ishar.

As obvious a move as going Cosmere wide is, it's crazy they were still keeping it hidden at GenCon.

I love Alyx banging on the drum of 'Harmony and Discord are not descriptions of a unified Intent'. My opinion is that Sazed has yet to have the 'snap-together' moment of unifying Honour and Odium into War. Harmony describes the Vessel having both Ruin and Preservation in a dormant state.

Taln has to still have his blade. Maybe he just had another shard blade when he died and since he didn't really die he took it with him to Braize or something. Based on how he was able to catch darts out of the air I seriously doubt someone was able to take his blade from him.

Based on the final Wit chapter it seems like Odium makes Wit lose his breaths then he loses his memory in a similar way to the heralds. Kaladin happens to find Wits flute. I think the flute has a bunch of breaths in it which will be used to restore the Heralds memories.

I can't wait to see the rules for Steelrunners and Steel compounders.

Please do a reprint of Mistborn House War. It is such a good game. Plus, you don’t need to do anything new to make it work, just get it back in print (although I wouldn’t be opposed to a Hero of Ages expansion to it).

Question: Is Cosmere RPG the reason we didnt get Diceborn season 2? Is it dead? Or is there still hope?

I love when Ian gets heated regarding linguistics in the cosmere. I do think it is the weakest of Sanderson's worldbuilding but I realize it is also rather low priority so it makes sense to not focus on that as much when as noted everything gets relayed to the readers via Earth languages.

A journal version of the adventure would be great for a lore fan but I hope they also consider doing something similar to Adventure Zone where they run their liveplay campaigns and then adapt them into comics afterwards.
