Thank you Tim for the wonderful and emotionally moving video !! I was fortunate enough to have sailed with Captain Hoyt aboard Queen Victoria this past January-February !! On a cruise from the Caribbean-through the Canal and ending in San Francisco. Captain Hoyt was a very nice man. He even agreed to stop and poss for a photo with me on the Grand Staircase! I will cherish it forever ! I asked him what was his favourite ocean liner of all time ? His answer was the “ Berengaria “ !! Bless you Captain and enjoy your semi- retirement !! 🇬🇧🇺🇸. MikeW.

Looks delightful and not heavily over commercialised like so many other cities. Have you considered adding a few # hashtags to your content. It's almost criminal that this great video has only had 18 views. A few hastags might make it easier for new viewers to find to your brilliant channel?

What gate did you arrive? How long did it take for you to get to immigration and get luggage?
@timstravelguides3 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you for watching. I don’t recall the gate I’m afraid, but I do recall it was fairly quick to get to immigration and get our luggage. It’s a huge airport so you do have to walk quite a distance, but it was clearly sign posted, the immigration queue was short and the luggage came quickly. I’d say it was about 25 minutes in total. I hope you have a great trip!

Hi, thank you for watching. We were at the Naha Cruise Terminal (I don’t recall it being 1 or 2, it was just called the Naha Cruise Terminal). Yes there was a free shuttle bus from the terminal to the main shopping street. I hope you enjoy your trip!

@timstravelguides5 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you for your positive comment. The trip was a Cunard excursion and from memory was about $75 to take us by coach from the cruise port of Keelung to the centre of Taipei. We had a guide on the coach there and back, but had free time to explore on our own in Taipei for a few hours. Thank you for watching!

I’d be curious if you could add price points for the restaurant options and you didn’t mention what was on offer for room service and if it’s 24/7.
@timstravelguides5 ай бұрын
Hi, I’m sorry I can’t say what the specific price points are for each restaurant. It’s a luxury 5 star hotel and Tokyo is an expensive city so as you can imagine the restaurants in the hotel aren’t cheap, but a high end option as a special treat and it depends how much you spend on cocktails, wine and what you order. Yes the room service was 24 hours.

So do you need to “dress up” every evening? My husband is not fond of ties and coats 🫤
@timstravelguides5 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you so much for watching my video. No you don’t need to dress up every night, but it’s important to say a lot of people do and choose Cunard especially for that reason. On the non-Gaia nights the men don’t need to wear a jacket or tie. You don’t have to dress up any night if you don’t want to - the lido buffet restaurant and the pub are very relaxed. There are a mix of people onboard, some choose not to dress up and that’s fine, but it’s important to say a lot of passengers choose Cunard especially for the formality. I hope you give it a try and have a great time!

Thank you, I enjoyed watching. I cruised on the Queen Victoria in 2018 and 2019, Princess Grill with my mother, we brought on board vodka and sherry, and I don't remember security at all...do they check hand luggage now? The vodka was in my hand luggage and the sherry in Mum's suitcase. I didn't realise there was a weight limit, I'm sure I was over 20kg with each suitcase! Thanks to FCC due to cancelled cruises in 2020, my husband and I are going transatlantic on the QM2 next summer but Britannia balcony this time. I didn't realise the extra charge for room service, no one else mentioned this!
@timstravelguides7 ай бұрын

I’m booked on this ship in November 24. Looking forward to it but I’m just worried it might be too formal for me. I’ve been on many cruises in my life and tend to prefer freestyle without the need for black tie etc. is smart casual ok? Or do I need to be taking my Sunday best?
@timstravelguides8 ай бұрын
Hi Jonathan, a lot of people do book Cunard specifically as it’s more formal than other cruise lines and the majority dress up every evening. Not everyone likes dressing up all the time so there are options to eat in the buffet restaurant or go to the pub onboard where the dress code is more relaxed. I’d suggest you take a couple of smart clothing items to keep your options open. I hope you have a great cruise.

Another beautifully narrated video. I'm wondering if when you are recording from your phone, if the pole allows it to go into a horizontal position? The result would be the footage filling the screen. Looking forward to the next video.
@timstravelguides9 ай бұрын
Hi, thank you for the lovely feedback as always! I appreciate the constructive suggestion too. I don’t use a selfie pole, I just hold it with my hand which makes it tricky to do horizontally, but I know it doesn’t look as good unfortunately. I’ll keep working on how I can improve. Thank you so much for watching!!

We are taking a cruise next summer from New York City to Southampton and then on to Hamburg. Sadly, our allotment of time will be exhausted shortly after we arrive in Germany--and it's doubly painful because the QM2 continues on from Hamburg up the coast to visit the fjords as you did. Ah, well, we'll still have ten days aboard the QM2 with a port of call in Southampton and then a few days in Germany before flying back to the States.

@@timstravelguides Thanks for the well wishes. It would have been nice to include the fjords on this trip since the QM2 is going there immediately after we get to Germany. Alas, time and money sometimes interfere with what we'd rather do. 🙂
