A lot of other content creators discussing these issues and giving similar advice use the term "niche" to describe "segments". Regardless of the terminology it's great to get more perspective on all this.

I really appreciate you sharing your experience on this, and giving people a realistic idea of what challenge getting a business like this actually off the ground and bringing in revenue actually entails. I'm not looking into selling AI art myself, but just knowing how Etsy works and how to strategize on it from experience is really helpful for anyone on the platform. Thanks for sharing some of your thinking process here.

Thanks for the feedback. I definitely wouldn’t recommend the AI art route so happy that you are looking at Etsy from a different perspective. For me Etsy is just a channel, one method of connecting with potential customers just like Amazon or having your own website. Finding a problem / need is the best way to build an actual business, then you can find the right channel and use all the tactics to maximize your results. I honestly believe the best way is to jump in and try and learn by doing. Would love to hear about your future store. Thanks again for watching

@@realmoneytime SEO works on Etsy by Etsy indexing your account. This takes time as well as knowing how to tag, title, describe your listing to Your Targeted Buyer Profile. That's what target marketing is. Describe your perfect customer. Do that, then use those words in your tag, title and description And Then give time for the indexing linked on the backend of Esty with the Etsy algorithm. That's right, it all works together but needs time Then at 3 months things Begin (!!) to move on Esty.

Very good demonstration! Thanks for sharing this. But 4 weeks it is a very short amount of time you expected to have sales and make money. Most people are saying that after 6 months to 1 year they started making money. And also as a beginner you should upload at least the minimum of 40 Listings... You have a new subscriber to your channel. 👍

I love the concept of this video. The reality is, though, if you want to have a chance of making money on Etsy, you need a lot more than 28 listings. You also need to do product/market research before you create your designs, which it doesn't look like you did. If you really want to give it a fair test, I'd say you need to spend at least a couple hours doing market research and have at least 100 listings. You said you wanted to make sure the price wasn't an issue, but it may have been. If you price things too low, it can actually hurt your sales. People on Etsy aren't looking for the cheapest option. But like I said, I do love the concept of this video and will definitely be checking out more of your stuff. Thanks for being honest!
@realmoneytime

Thanks so much for the comment, I actually did about 20 hours of research but for one type of product. The biggest issue is that the niche is low volume. Everbee was useful for the estimates. And I think you are right about having 100 listing. For pricing I did a few tests but I wanted to make sure that whatever I was selling was around the same price as other comparable items, so not the lowest or the highest. I should have my 2 month update recorded soon.

Trying to make money on Etsy with AI art is a painful experience. I saved a few stores, wrote down their sales and checked on them after 20 days. (I don't have EverBee or any subscription like that, so I have to do research the old-fashioned way.) Mostly, I researched seamless pattern stores because these were supposed to be /easy/. 20-DAY RESULTS: Shop 1: Sells patterns in bundles. Obviously AI. Thumbnails are great visually. 54 Sales. Selling bundles for less than $1. Estimation: $16 Shop 2: Single patterns. Faux-embroidery style for most. Obviously AI. 10 Sales. About $6 each. Estimation: $45 Shop 3: Single patterns. Simple style. Possibly not AI. 48 Sales. About $5 each. Estimation: $180 Shop 4: Single patterns. Simple style. Possibly not AI. 48 Sales. (Different Shop Than Above). About $3 each. Estimation: $107 Shop 5: Single patterns. Disney rip-offs. 30 Sales. About $10 each. Estimation: $235 Shop 6: Single patterns. Disney rip-offs. 153 Sales. About $6 each. Estimation: $710 Bonus Shop 7: AI single images and MidJourney prompts. Most Sales were prompt bundles with a count of 150, on average. 35 Sales. About $4 each. Estimation: $105. So we have no idea which of these shops paid for ads. Obviously, ripping off intellectual property is the best way to make money on Etsy which is ridiculous, but it's always been that way. And if any of these people make enough money, they'll likely have to report this as income for taxes (in the U.S.), so the profit is even less. People can say, well, it's going to be passive income, so after doing this for a while, you'll make a good chunk of money without effort. There are things to do that have a higher return. Looking at these shops, even the bare minimum junk AI shops, you can see that dozens or hundreds of hours were invested into creating huge bundles and many pages of listings. How many people will ever see minimum wage paid for each hour invested? I don't think it's worth it for the majority of people. Anyway, I hope my research is somewhat interesting to someone, and to Real Time Money, I hope you can reach 1,000 subscribers soon! Good luck.

I did this from April to June of this year. In my opinion if u didnt get a foot hold in the market before all the gurus on youtube started talking about it, you are too late. I started right as word was starting to spread around. Even though I started in April I had a suspicion I was about 3 or 4 months too late even then. That being said, I do think it will work, but it will take a long time and a lot of money to gain a foothold in the niche/market you are listing products in. I also believe from my experience that you will be operating at a loss for a long time until you get that foothold and start getting organic traffic boosting numbers and profitability. That being said, there is no guarantee that you will ever get that foothold, so it's still a toss up. So, from April to June I spent about $180 advertiseing digital art to make about $100, so a -$80 dollar test/investment. I decided that the time and money I would have to put into it to make it profitable wasn't worth it for me. During those two months I made 55 total sales, had a 5/5 star feedback score, a avg CPC of about $0.28, and a conversion rate of around 5.5% - 6%. He mentions cpc was 0.40 for him, that is crazy high and just shows how saturated it got in the past 4 to 5 months. Idk if this helps anyone but, take what you will from it lol.

The reasoning about needing $40 in Etsy ads for one sale is flawed. And it also just takes time for your listing to start ranking on Etsy.
@realmoneytime
@realmoneytime 10 ай бұрын
Shouldn't be flawed its simple math, at 1% conversion with 0.4 per click that 100 clicks for 1 sale which is is 100 *0.4 = $40 Cost per sale. If the conversion rate is higher or cost per click is lower then it impact the cost per conversion. What's good is i'm showing the real results and can run this for years to show what it really takes

don't see the wall paper. assume we have half a billion households in the world that can afford spending money for nice images. Say ten percent happen to have an empty wall to fill, perhaps two, and don't want to hang images of their kids or pets. Makes 100 million images potential. Say 25% check etsy to fill their need. Makes 25 million images to target. Divided by perhaps 5 million wannabe-sellers on etsy. Would result in five sells per seller IF you can beat the "big players". The image you created looks pretty cool. But how many would have this in their bedroom or living room? Would you hang it, especially next to other images that are already in that room? Think, if you hit the taste and the fit of ten percent you're really great. Brings down the sales target to 0.5 items. Per shop... Maybe those "gurus" do make a million bucks on prints. But - they're usually well financed in the beginning - you never know if they just bought 5000 images themselves to make etsy believe they have "really lots of traffic" - I would do so if I had enough money... Just my two cents... But, excellent video, man - guess you're gonna make your money on KZfaq, not with printed mugs

It’s definitely a smaller market which could be part of the problem. And finding designs that people like is tough. The art also works in offices so that’s helps a bit with the market size but you are always waiting for someone who is in the process of changing which might be few. I’m going to keep testing and may even try other products too
