Now.. I’m convinced Tannus Armour insert is a Scam!! Hopefully there’s a company out there who make this kind of protection in synthetic rubber. Now that would changed the game!

I bought a set before I saw this video. Disappointing, but makes sense ... With hindsight, I should have known better: I'm a polyurethane foam chemist. The constant pressure of the tube will* inevitably* flatten out the open cell foam over time (Michelin Bibmousse is closed cell foam, a totally different type of beast). Deflating the tire, allowing time and providing heat will indeed reverse, only to a point, the flattened foam. I wrote "to a point" because creep is not reversible. Ahah, what an answer, BTW!, like that's conveninet! Put these requirements on the label, Mr Tannus, see how many of Armours you sell. (The lesson here is not letting techies give answers to the public). Too bad. The race for the best puncture proof device is still on.

I just had tannus amour inserts installed on the wheels of my electric speedbike and after one ride I can't help but feel that there is a loss of performance and speed. There is a slight wobble in the rear wheel and I now use up more battery than I did without the inserts. I think I'm probably going to have them removed.

When are they going to come up with better deflection inserts? Foam will just absorb thorns and prickly things, as aposed to the thick silica/plastic liners which dont absorb, more along the lines deflect the shrapnal.

Calisse, osti! I had the exact same two problems. Shrinking protection, and interior movement wearing out a tube. I ran mine at 25 psi in 3" x 20" tires on a Rad Mini bike. I got flats, so I ripped them out angrily, and noticed how thick they are. I cut it and put a caliper on it, and measured exactly 4mm. That may be better than nothing, but the marketing says 15mm, and the advertising pictures illustrate that 15mm thickness and show a nail that can't reach your tube. But that is simply NOT what you get after a month of use. I spent money on 4 of these, and smaller tubes to go with them, and have since pulled them out, and am back to just running slime in my tires. FALSE ADVERTISING. WASTE OF MONEY!

Hello, question. I have the Nexus 8 on a bike. I carry myself and my girlfriend on it with a passenger bench on the rear. I wonder if it's too much weight. We would weigh 300lbs + luggage. I've noticed the hub makes much more noise when coasting with that much weight on. Have you noticed the same on your end? Thanks

I also use my bike in montreal as my main form of transportation. I use my bike to get to and from work everyday day, and have colleagues that live in the same area as me, or have a shorter commute and still choose to have their cars. Since I bike in everyday, they see how I am getting exercise, feeling the weather, and also getting to work at the same time if not faster than them. I mainly ride on St-Zotique, which has a ton of stop signs and lights since it is more residential, and it is always amusing to see the cars race to each stop sign and stop light while I gradually make it to the same spot of them without having to stop bc my speed is in sync with lights due to how I can control my speed. It is really interesting to see how drivers still don't understand how much faster it is in a bike even if we go slower solely due to not BEING THE TRAFFIC (opposed to being "stuck" in traffic). As an example: a drive that takes 18 minutes, will take up 40 minutes solely because of congestion, and detours due to construction (which is not uncommon here in Montreal), yet a bike will gradually do that 18 minute drive in 40 minutes although without all the waiting, burnt gas into the air, not contributing to traffic and congestion. Montreal has a great community of cyclists but there still could be so much more empathy from motorists as they see us as a threat to their cars, instead of seeing us as someone who is trying to not contribbute to worsening traffic. *KEY WORD FOR MOTORISTS* you're not 'stuck' in traffic YOU ARE the traffic. Love this video! there's so many amazing changes we can do to this amazing city to make it easier to get around. We should definitely be putting more pressure onto our councilors and calling them and asking what THEIR plan is for bike integration and active school commutes for our youths.

Do you ever have issues getting the Fat tire even on the rim?
@MrT-tn4qe
@MrT-tn4qe 6 ай бұрын
Mr Tuffy states that they are not intended for tires under 25PSI so they are useless on Fat Tires. Fat tires typically use a lower PSI than that. Do you make Mr. Tuffy for mopeds, motorcycles or cars? We’ve tried .. and failed. Mr. Tuffy liner needs a certain amount of air pressure against it to keep it in place. In a test in a 25 psi moped tire, the moped size liner worked it’s way around to the rim side and actually cut off the valve stem ... not exactly the result we were hoping for.

Ok, let me get this. You are screwing 100 pointy metal screws into the tire. Then you will ride the tire over very harsh terrain...? Duh, are you looking to try to patch the tube 100 times when you get flats?

Get that part made on a wire-EDM so the precision is perfect. Or cut out the center and have a welder put them together for extra engagement surface area.

The big Kryptonite locks are a good option but they are vulnerable to cordless angle grinders or worse cordless bolt cutters ! A hefty 😢chain with a trusty padlock is a good idea as it's hard for thieves to hold the chain while cutting ! Check out the new locks which have technology that can seriously frustrate the above mentioned cutters and grinders !

Take this down 🤣 All you have to do is deflate your tires once a month and warm your tires up and the foam springs back to its original self.

I've been running Tannus on a 4x26in Juiced RipCurrent S. No flats for 3 years, 4000+ miles with Vee Zig Zags. My original Kenda had a flat in 500mi, a tree branch. Now, I have no doubt that foam gets thinner after a while, but I'm not seeing it. Maybe less pressure on the larger tire than the smaller one you have. Anyway, nice review. Thanks.

These things will go paper thin if you don't deflate them periodically . Liners work best so far but I am giving tubeless a try right now to see what I like best. So far going good but there is maintenance with tubeless. Like checking the sealant.
