Have they fixed it for you and how long did it take?
@AllenTam6 күн бұрын
I did. The CS sent me the label the next day, and I sent the frame to them immediately. The SC told me it would take two weeks. My frame was sitting on their shelf for six weeks before they took one day to replace the ejector. It then sat on the shelf for a couple more days before they sent it back to me. Altogether, it took seven weeks to get it back. They included the work order so I could see when their gunsmith started working on my frame.

@@Larry-ds6ib My 3" Roin guide rode walked out on me during the first two hundred rounds of break-in. I think it was the first two hundred rounds or three; I don't remember. Anyway, I didn't notice that until I got home to clean it. The rod barely hangs on the base/plate with just half of a circle turn. If I had brought more ammo with me, I think maybe shoot three or four more rounds, and the rod would have flown out to down range. I use red loctite to make sure it will never unscrew itself again. Be sure to check your guide rod and watch it during your break-in. Oh, and the wood grip screws all walked out, too. I can turn them with just pressing down with the figure without using screwdriver.

Nice Mr. Tam! I just got my original EMP 3 (California) couple weeks ago, and gonna head to range soon and hope that runs flawlessly like yours! By the way do you know if EGW guide rod gonna work with the EMP? My guide rod and spring were too tightly fitted, and I was unable to field strip it without using the tool, so I want to try the EGW rod to make it easier. Hey man it's nice to see that gun in action and looks great on recoil too!
@AllenTam6 күн бұрын
I was eyeballing one from a CA store, too. But I have a hard time justifying paying so much for it. I'm sorry, but I'm not familiar with EGW. I'm running Atlas Gunworks toolless guide rods on a couple of my 2011, a 4.25" Commander. Their toolless guide rods work very well, and you just reminded me to order a couple more for my 5" and 4.45" Roin. I have yet to see anyone make a 3" toolless guide rod anywhere. If I do, I will get them. Thank you for watching.

I have this pistol and to be honest, it is the best feeling pistol I have ever shot. Also, I don't think that was rust on the slide. It is most likely oil. A q-ti will wipe that off. Enjoy shooting. This makes it so much more fun than ever before, I think. Cheers.

Some people are having this issue after putting magwell in pushes up on main spring housing and pinches grip safety.
@AllenTam25 күн бұрын
I am not a firearm expert, and I don't pretend to be one. I consider my skills at the elementary level next to nothing. But I know enough that the mainspring housing is seated flat with the grip. No amount of force from the hammer spring will push the mainspring house downward. For the same, releasing the hammer will not allow the mainspring housing to move upward because the mainspring house is secured in place with the pin. So, how is it possible that installing a magwell will push the mainspring housing up? Both magwell and mainspring housing use the same hole in the grip. If the magwell caused the mainspring house to move up to pinch the grip safety, that's a lot of upward movement! If that happened to some people, for them, the problem is not installing a magwell. The problem is that their grip pinhole is so severely worn that it allows the mainspring house to move up and down; their grip is junk at that point. But again, I am not an expert; what the hell do I know, right?

@AllenTam27 күн бұрын
Not every pistol has that issue. I went back to the shop to check; the ones they have in stock don't have that problem. Several weeks ago, I saw the shop had a Black 4.25" used one for sale. I tested it, and it has the same problem. I guessing the original owner didn't want to deal with that problem and sold it. I was going to buy and fix it myself, but someone had already purchased it online. A lady came over to pick it up about 5~10 minutes after I looked at it. I wonder if she know about that problem?

I would ask them why they didn't paint the inside instead of making conclusions. It might be a functioning problem or they haven't figured out how to put the thinner coat on the underside/Inside the slide and frame.
@AllenTam27 күн бұрын
The owner told me that because 2011 had tight tolerances, coating inside would cause fitting issues. I told him that if you recoated it on top of the original coating, the fitting would be very tight. But if you strip the original coating off before applying the new layer, how would that have fitting issues? The owner has yet to reply. That led me to think that they don't strip the old coating off; they recoat on top of the original coating. I don't want a coating service like that, so they are not getting business from me again. Nor would I recommend them to my friends.
