i love how how i met your mother was made. it shows you the comfort of a sitcom that you love, but also leaves a reality check that you want to think about for a while. its not a deep show, but once you look under the surface of all the characters, theres something special

Time travel not possible??? What about the episodes that ends with future mashall sending wings to past Marshall. And i hated this episode not because of how "dark" it was but because it goes against the established canon because the orginal robots vs wrestling ended with future ted telling his kids no matter what they always made robots vs wrestling, this episode contradicts that episode

This show is definitely unique, in that there are many dark episodes in the series. The Time Travelers, obviously, is one of them, but there are many others like Bad News, Last Words, Symphony of Illumination, and How Your Mother Met Me. This is one of my favorite TV shows because it creates a perfect balance between comedy, drama, and story telling.

I really enjoyed the show until somewhere in season 4, for me the cartoonification and distortion of many characters really started in season 5. In the first seasons, characters were relatable, in the later seasons it was over-the-top american humour and I hated it, I stopped watching at season 7 I think, never watched the last two seasons. I think I'm just more receptive to British humour.

Dude. The SADDEST part of this episode is the end when he goes to the girls apartment. Tells her he wants all the days or minutes with her. Then you find out that it’s cuz she died. Not cuz he’s sappy. Hits WAY harder on rewatch.

It's still bad my man I still wish they'd shown Tracy a lil more And not wasted the character Plus It's already bad that Ted is a rigid character who gets what he wants but also to add that he gets robin too... It's just bad dude The few times ted gets what he deserves is the time traveller episode and the episode where they get rid of the bean

This is far less dark than the episode where Ted is the ass**le. Where he's just a scumbag who tries to be as gross as he can be because Luck works for bad people.

For everyone talking about how they hated that Tracy was killed off, there were plenty of signs. This episode is one of them. Why was Ted lamenting that he could have spent more days with her if he had known? 🤔

The age gap is not that bizarre! Not everyone lives in us and uk we don’t care about age gap and 18&30 are fine. Pedophiles have messed with ur heads this is normal. Just cuz the show jokes around it doesn’t mean its wrong. Dont be a sheep use ur brain for once

oh yeah i remember watching this episode feeling all sad and lonely. At the time I was all by myself as well and kinda lost in life having no idea what to do next. 10 years later now I am in a much better place but I still remember that feeling on that day. Reality hits real hard sometimes.

Every Character in the show had a “Moment of Truth” episode. Lily going away and leaving Marshall for San Francisco realizing the grass isn’t always greener, Marshall’s dad passing away and him realizing he is his dad now, Barney finding out he has a daughter and becoming the Man he always feared, and Robin realizing she can’t have children and be a mother that she never really got to experience since her dad treated her like a boy. This was Ted’s moment of truth and he realized he needed to change his destiny.

I think as much as people despise the canon ending because we never got to truly see Ted and Tracy's relationship be fully fleshed out, I think this episode is proof enough that his love for Tracy wasn't just convenient after Robin rejected him for the final time. It was raw, genuine and never fails to feel like a punch in the gut even after rewatching the show after all these years.

I feel like the characters themselves are an essence of HIMYM too. Ted is (mostly) a single man and a hopeless romantic. Robin is (mostly) a single woman and a total cynic. Lily and Marshall are the couple. Barney is... Well... Barney, yknow? He's immature and views sex as a game. He's also incredibly zany. They all have different perspectives on love, life and relationships which lends themselves to the story and the lessons they each have. The characters themselves aren't really important, it's their roles.

You didn't talk about the final part where he was talking to the mother about wanting to spend the remaining days prior their meeting with her. Told from a future Ted's prospective, it illustrated how this was meant because of the mother's death.

the problem i have is not neccessarily the writing but the fact that like 20 episodes of season 9 were about the weekend when barney and robin get married and then they crammed the next like 10 years of their life in 2-4 episodes. When Tracy died you didnt even have enough time to process it because she literally had like 2 hours of screen time at most. We didnt even really see Ted grieve. It makes tracy seem less special. Especially when he got over her in 6 years, but couldnt get over robin in 25. When Tracy is clearly the better match for him

Honestly that was the entire motif of Community, even Harmon has said so. Abed is the one that he most closely relates to, but he wrote Jeff as the person he thought he was/wanted to be. Jeff learned through the series that he needed the group FAR more than they needed him. Makes the ending where he genuinely hugs Abed mean so much more. Perfect parallel of the first episode "I get I now Abed, I see your worth." As in he could use Abed to get into Britta's pants. Then in the final episode giving a genuine hug because he loved his friend and will deeply miss him. Showing him that he did indeed find his value, and loved him for it. This is by far the best episode, but man, this entire series is full of amazing moments and character growth.

Ngl when i first watched this episode i was like whatever when ted had his emotional scene. I think this needed to be seen in retrospect, because at the time i was just irritated they STILL hadnt introduced the mother. But after seeing how the series played out, this scene is infinitely more powerful

This video came up on auto-play but it instantly felt like a video that was really well made and i watched the whole thing. Good editing, audio and some great points. After the video ended and i was going to find another i noticed that it was just recently uploaded and the channel had didnt have “many” subscribers which made me really confused. The video was so good that i just assumed it was an old popular video from a “big” channel. Anyway, you just earned a subscriber and i am really excited to see more of your stuff man, keep it up

If you ask me now in my mid thirties what episode hits me hard. Before it would have been Marshall’s dad dying. As mine died similarly, except I had to check him for a pulse. Anyway… now at this point in my life. Ted’s darkest moment does hit me fairly hard. As I too found myself in a similar way recently a few years back. Though unlike many being alone isn’t quite a terrible thing. Peace and quiet was something I had always wanted. A romantic partner to share this with, another thing I wanted… Just did not happen, nor do I think it will.
