We are taking our grandkids on this trail in the fall. One question is, we are in our late 60s and don't camp anymore. Are there any stops in the 1st 30 to 40 miles a hotel. Also 2nd leg stopping points and a hotel.
@FrugalFitDad

@@richardocain8299 Hill City is the first good spot for hotels. It’s a big day to go from Deadwood to Hill City. We stopped at the Mystic trailhead and shuttled to Hill City. Then shuttled back to mystic the next morning. Custer is the next good stop for hotels. We then went Custer and the way to Edgemont on the last day. It’s mostly downhill so the miles are easier.

Probably a good cheap option for a Gravel bike or commuter. Light and simple.

Great review Frugal Fit Dad! If you have time, I have a 3 questions. (1.) How noisy is it compared to a "magnetic only" rower? The video makes it sound quieter than a Concept2, but how does it compare to models with no "air" resistance? Specifically, noise at lower resistance levels and lower speeds. (2.) Does it offer resistance if you reach the bar close to the unit? It looks like the unit offers a bit of reach beyond the foot plates, but it looks slack at times? (3.) How is the resistance at 10? Is it heavy enough to allow some strength focus? Thank you so much for your time--and again, great video.

The wooden golf tees as filler was GENIUS. Super handy tip that I would not have considered. Even the wife was impressed when she saw me doing it. So thanks for scoring me extra points yesterday!

Just watching this now after my wife and I did 30 miles out of Deadwood a month ago. Heartwarming and The Best Years are two thoughts that come to mind. I fondly remember the outdoor activities with our kids a few years back before they became adults and their lives got busy.....

Just fixed my door today. The top hinge had movement where i had to lift up the handle while closing, or it caught the frame on the left side. Simply put new larger screws in. But some wouldn't tighten. So will have to find something small enough to fit in the really small holes, as wooden dowels won't even fit. I don't trust the the old matchsticks trick as i think they're too brittle. This looks a good solution.

I came here looking to see if the offset was an issue for anyone else. I’ve been using it for a year and strongly dislike how the offset makes the wheels stick out wider then the car frame

How about 2 eBikes + a basket? Think that is possible?
@FrugalFitDad
@FrugalFitDad 2 ай бұрын
@@Tomski1775 probably possible but not recommended by the manufacturer. The basket takes up two spaces so in theory, you could still put bikes on the last two spaces. If I had to put eBay on the last space, I would make sure I took the batteries out and keep it as light as possible.

Definitely a rocky/techy bike park, there were signs at the bottom calling Deer Valley riders princesses. Not for everyone, but if you can handle the chunk it's fun. Looks like you missed out on Old Color Country which is pretty flowy and fun, as well as Grissender. Those two are very different from the others. Upper Timberline would have been more your XC style as well. I've been coming to the park since my kids who have been between 8 and 12, but have more experience on downhill/tech, and they managed it pretty well, but this park is also significantly rockier than other parks where you might be able to gain experience. The blacks here are as much a step up from the blues as the blues are from the green, so it gets a lot tougher.

Have you ever tried to put a mtb with averaged sized (~2.4” width) 29er or 27.5 wheels in the fat bike hoop? Is it secure enough to run like that on occasion?
