This is the best sword fight i have ever seen, you need to be hired by movie makers

I feel like training with the messer is like the modern day equivalent of handgun training. Neither is the best weapon to fight somebody with, but both are significantly more reasonable options to carry every day in a society where carrying a weapon is acceptable.

Is it called a messer because it messes you up ? PS. it is easy to see why sword fighting got outlawed in most countries. It is freaking brutal.

Sorry, gonna stick my neck out here but I don't think this is anywhere near as good as the duels in the French film Le Bossu. They are terrific.

I like how the choreography shows real intensity and a combination of both armed and unarmed techniques used mixed and flowing together in a way that makes sense for portraying two experienced martial artists facing off in a real-world live steel fight. If typical HEMA/SCA etc. was done more like this I think people would be much more inclined to take it seriously as a martial arts tradition instead of writing it off as just a bunch of nerds LARPing. A lot of the HEMA sparring footage and other modern allegedly "historically accurate" modern reenactments of European fighting styles I've seen look way too stiff, slow and robotic with even the sparring sessions consisting of the combatants essentially just stiffly trading by-the-book moves back and forth slow as molasses and acting like they're too afraid to either really hit or throw their opponent or get hit/thrown themselves even when wearing full modern protective gear, fighting on wrestling mats and using dull or plastic/rubber training weapons.

Toto adoreable video si pouštím už několik let, pomáhá mi srovnat se s životem. No a minulý týden jsem zjistila, že jeden ze zakladatelů Adorey Olomouc žije ve stejném domě! Málem mě kleplo :))). Ať žije Adorea a všichni její členové, všichni rytíři v lesklé zbroji! Kéž by moji synové měli tak úžasný drajv a zájem o historii.

You've done your homework, first swordfight in a long time where I've seen the fighter wield his sword by also holding it by the blade, and also using an axe. As well as CLANKING and sounding kind of like a large windchime as he walked 👍
