I have an 8" step-stool under my computer desk to rest my feet on. Never thought of using it as an exercise tool. You have shown us a much better use for it in this Super Video. Thanks!

Brilliant! Basic to all other movement. Thoughtfully presented, each exercise building on previous ones. I do this first as it reduces ankle, knee & hip stiffness. Sets me up for the entire day. Thanks! 😊

Fabulous presentation of a most important body task! Years ago a much older lady than I showed me how to do this. I copied her movements & have been most successful getting up & down with ease. Now, however, you have shown me the steps needed to prepare myself better. I applaude you & your friend who requested this dynamic demonstration! Everyone of every age needs to know these moves.

And use hiking poles to help increase your heart rate and oxygen uptake by using your arms. Cross country skiing has the highest oxygen uptake of all sports as you use your upper and lower body. You can get a similar training effect using poles while walking, especially uphill.

@@sanaanimamfitnesswithdianeb I use them all the time for increased power going uphill, and support on the downhill, especially steep drops....and crossing logs etc, rough terrain. Just much easier with them. Then my feet are not what they used to be at 80 years old carrying a backpack in the sierras...cheers

You have inspired me to do a shoe selection video next week! I have many prs of shoes and which I wear depends on what type of exercise or activity I'm doing. The problem with fixed weight dumbbells is that in order to progress it's necessary to keep purchasing heavier and heavier ones. Costs money and space. Perhaps a pair of adjustable dumbbells and a variety of weight plates makes more sense. Even better would be a set of resistance bands or tubes. Also, your strength workout seems to neglect the chest, pushing strength. I'm going on 84 and I do an upper body strength workout every three days using aided (by a band) pullups, pushups (wearing a 20lb weight vest and using PerfectPushup handles), single arm flyes (door anchor and resistance tube), seated rows (a door anchor and 70lbs of BodyLastics resistance tubes), seated military press with resistance tubes, standing reverse flyes with a resistance tube, bicep curls with resistance tubes. I don't do specifically abdominal exercises because I tighten my core enough doing the other exercises. My knee replacement surgeon told me to avoid lower body resistance exercises if I wanted my replacements to last, but I do adductor and abductor with a 100lb resistance band on a door anchor, keeping the band above the knee.

Thanks Marvin for your comments. It sounds like you are an amazing athlete! Congratulations on your accomplishments. Every trainer has a slightly different background and approach to training. My certifications are in senior fitness and rehabilitation. I also work closely with an orthopedic surgeon and chiropractor when developing my programs to make sure my programming is safe for all my followers. As we reach a certain age, it is not necessary for most people to increase weight during a workout. A safer option for most people is to increase repetitions and or rounds with a safe weight. And as always, everyone should follow the guidelines of their health care professionals!
