When they were younger they went out a lot with me. Then there is that middle stage where they want nothing to do with anything you do. Now, they are both grown and really appreciate their time outdoors again. Thanks Jason!

Wonderful day on the trail. We've been having heat and humidity since the beginning of July that we have not experienced for such a length of time here on the coast...been as high as +40C with 100% humidity. There has been no movement outside with poor Otis...even going out to do his business sees him coming in panting for his life to cool off. Some pretty amazing views up there...but it sure does look like it could get rather parched and hot indeed!

The heat has been relentless since June. I have hardly been out, and it has taken a toll on me. I'm so out of shape. Poor Otis, I hope cooler weather is coming so he can get out more. Take care!

@chris0895ozone I use Gaia for most of my hiking. On this trip, I also used Farout since much of what we did was on the CDT.

Nice trip. I've never been up past Silver Lake. It was nice to see the upper lake even though it was still iced over. Beautiful area. Cool that you made it to the sword. I've heard about it and we were going to hike to it but then I heard they took it down. Well done on your hike. Awesome stuff. Have a great day.

Thanks, Jim. It is a beautiful hike. If we had planned better, we would have staged a car in the canyon over the top. It was really hot, though, so hanging out in the snow was fun.

Yes, it is totally worth the extra climb. My original video showed the true Excalibur. It was a little secret for years. Once it got out and people with no experience started to look for it. It became dangerous, and it is technically in the wilderness area.

We encounter a lot of Overnighters coming and going to Silver Lake, but only two guys beyond that to Silver Glance. Way too many people for me. I would go back again during the week, never a weekend. Take care!

Really windy, but you made it to the falls and back in time! Fun hike with your kids! I wouldn’t want to venture over to the geocache area… yikes, looks steep. Here, lately, it doesn't seem like I have much time to hike. So I take what I can get and I go whenever my kids can join me. It been a very slow year for me. The geocache is approached from the north side, but is still pretty steep and mostly game trails. So worth the view. Take care, Jennifer!

I’m doing the Teton Crest Trail in August! Wish I had known I would have tried to connect. There is one permit that is walk up that if I don’t get, I’m just going to exit the TCT early and run to the Winds for the weekend on the way out. That’s an ambitious peak list! Keep me posted on the Kings trip. The Wurl is gnarly. The Beat Out hike is the south ridge section from White Baldy and exiting Bells Canyon. I know I’m not getting any younger! All good stuff! I always gain a few pounds on winter. It’s coming off! I need to visit the Ogden area more! Great trail you were on! I’ll add you on Facebook! 👍🥾

Great trip to Northern California. Burney Falls, so nice, and the redwoods are amazing. Trinidad is my wife’s favorite place. 😁

That opener sounds like a country song by Martin Delray that I know, with all the w's! LOL It is tough when we have to get permits to hike the areas we love nowadays. Glad you at least got one of them. The local stuff is still great. That is an awesome list of peaks. Many of which I have on my list as well. Sounds like a brutal loop. You could do it though.
