Good stuff. Thanks. My current car (Ford Kuga (Escape to you in the USA)) has a reduced load rating (of 60kg) because of the glass panoramic sunroof up there already. 1st time I've had a car where the car is weaker than the bars. (I can still fit a 'soft' roof tent at 55kg + 5kg for the bars so still OK).

this was so helpful. I could not for the life of me figure out how these 100 lb tents were being mounted on 165 max racks. explaining static vs dynamic rating was helpful. thank you!

just make sure to put some good padding between the canoe and your tent to protect your travel cover!

On the ponderosa every single time I go to close, the front awning breaks loose and swings into the side of my truck..needs two People to close properly first time. Makes difficult when I’m solo duckhunting. Any tips or tricks on how to prevent that?

how the rain fly react in high winds ? does the tent is waterproop without the rainfly ? Just imagine the wind get stronger during the night and rains also start to fall... the rainfly will react as a parachute so would it be possible to remove it or it is a must to be waterproof ??
@treelineoutdoors9445
@treelineoutdoors9445 2 жыл бұрын
Hello! The tent itself is waterproof, but the skylight zippers are not. Therefore, we strongly suggest keeping the rainfly on during rainstorms. Should the wind kick up, just fasten the rain fly to the tent as though it was being packed up. This will reduce the wind chatter while keeping you dry. Hope this helps!

Is Thule the best?
@treelineoutdoors9445
@treelineoutdoors9445 3 жыл бұрын
Thule has a lot of money to spend on marketing so the consensus would be Yes. However, there are many rack companies out there using their marketing budgets on R&D thus building much stronger systems with a more modular design giving the user many more options for additional features. Shop around and consider what you'll be using the rack for. If you need some assistance please give us a call (403) 933.3200

Great tents for sure. Just took mine for my first winter trek. Any suggestions for the condensation guys? I had the two top side vents open and things got pretty wet. Tamarack model here
@treelineoutdoors9445
@treelineoutdoors9445 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jarrod! Unfortunately condensation is unavoidable in all tents (ground or elevated) unless a heater is deployed or adequate ventilation is used. I personally have camped at -15C to test the condensation factor without a heater. On the first night, using only the vents you mention, I experienced heavy condensation. On the second night I used the vents along with the skylites which provided enough ventilation to avoid condensation. On my second outing at -15C I brought a diesel heater. These units vary in price from $200CAD-$1200CAD. They are safer than propane and i suggest everyone goes this route. I experienced zero condensation and still had to ventilate due to over heating. The term 4 season (as with all tents) refers to its ability to hold up under extreme snow load and severe wind gusts. We designed the structure and chose the materials of our RTT's based on this. Hope this helps!!

Hey, i got a 20 Ranger Raptor and im looking to install a roof top tent on my bed. my racks are rated for 165lbs and the tent is about 110-152lbs pending on the tent i go for in the end. me and my gf would be rougly 430lbs. would this be safe to load on the racks? i got a mountaintop roller cover (which i would believe ad some stiffness).
@treelineoutdoors9445
@treelineoutdoors9445 3 жыл бұрын
Hello! Your rack is rated with a dynamic load, meaning while the vehicle is in motion. Once parked, your rack will support the tent and its occupants!
