Great video, thanks. I followed it step by step and got my rollers changed (in my case I had managed to order new ones) ..its worked perfect...but now it says ´Failed to calibrate Optical Scanner` The optical system on the scanner is in error.............any idea what I can do ....HELP PLEASE

Great video....except I think it could make it more clear how you remove the gears from the roller shafts. That is the most difficult part IMO. You have to pull apart a tab and apply pressure outward from the bottom of the gear carefully as to not break the plastic.

HELP! I am reassembling my S500 and am stuck. See the cable with three connectors at 7:14 - 7:19. The connectors are of three sizes. I know where the larger two connects go, but for the life of me, I can't find a socket for the smallest connector which is a 3-pin connector with 2 wires. Can anyone tell me where it goes? Is it possible that this connector is only used in the S510???

Gave up at 12:30 - struggling to get roller axle out, realizing still need to do exit rollers, AND then reassemble. This is like removing the dashboard of a car to replace the oil filter. I had bought my wife the Epson ES-400 II, just wanted this one for occasional scans in my office. Will probably buy another Epson, as it works really well.

Wait a minute…. Why do you even need to disassemble the unit if all you are doing is wrapping tape around the roller? I was able to get the old sticky rubbers off without disassembling. I will try to wrap the tape now since I can turn the rollers while in place.

Não dispunha dos originais, mas, acumulador contumaz (ao menos é o que dizem aqueles que não sabem o valor de uma boa sucata), consegui os roletes de um velho fax da sucata. Ficaram como substitutos dos roletes originais e o mais importante, confeccionados em borracha que não dissolve, tanto assim que mesmo estando o fax desativado ha´mais de uma década, os roletes continuam perfeito flexíveis e íntegros. Realmente perfeitos. Quanto vídeo tenho apenas uma observação, não é uma crítica, é na verdade uma solicitação, uma correção, não por mim porque já resolvi, mas, por outros seguidores: no trecho entre 16:20 e 16:50, não é possível ver o procedimento e isto causa pânico em quem não tenha muiuta habilidade com esse tipo de trabalho. A nota? Não, não é 10, é 1.000.000. Obrigado!

I am a very experienced at fixing my own stuff and the Fujitsu S510 Scanner is the most challenging device I've disassembled, repaired and reassembled. Fujitsu does not make it easy or intuitive and without this video several times, my scanner would be in a landfill. With Luis's video, I was able to replace all 4 rollers from Ebay for $8.79 US and I learned how to repair scanners. Thank you Luis Sousa

I found replacement shafts with rollers on eBay for under $20 for a set.

Hey Buddy, I think you need a serious redo on this video and next time, get your fingers and hands out of the way and get closeups on each task. It would be best if you have someone assisting with the camera closeups as I don’t expect you to be able to do it. Your video was maybe or maybe not thoughtful as there is a lot of false hope in this video and I’m sure very few are going to get very far with your video as the frustrations mount. For people watching, realize this video could be a false hope video to get you to buy a new one. Just look at the numbers of these scanners on eBay with the same melted rubber rollers; over 100. Do us and yourself a favor to redo it right or take it down. Quit wasting peoples time. I had my scanner, the same one on my kitchen counter for 6 months. It’s a mess with the pieces and I had to guess what it was you did behind your hand and fingers. Even stopping points with instructional text would have been better, but up close and view outs at each task and step would have made this a perfect video. If people here agree with my feedback, thumbs up and let’s get this video redone, or if someone can redo it with this feedback, please let me know. I believe that I broke two pieces trying to do it his way.

Great video, Many thanks! I bought replacement tyres instead of the electric tape. To slide them easily, add a lot of wd-40 on the inside of the tyre and push down using two overlapping spanners no 8 or so. Is there a video on how to disassemble the bottom part?

Nicely done, I only had a couple of challenging moments. The diameter of the 4 rollers would be good to know... too large and they'll bind, too small and they won't grab the paper. Only one or two shots that were blocked and I had to guess. Good job, and appreciated. Thanks

Can't see what you are doing because your hands are in the way and you aren't explaining anything. The average person would be insane to take their scanner apart like this, and is it necessary to just replace the tires? You are very rough handling this scanner. I take it you don't work for Fujitsu and that you were not trained by them. Thank you, but no thank you.

Hallo another roller problem - be careful there a 2 different roller shafts and they are not interchangable. And You don't need neither the electrical tape trick nor the complete shaft. But You can take off the rollers and slide them on again - I used the fingerholes of my scissors

Very good video but my god...what a horrible, horrible design by Fujitsu. You pretty much have to completely disassemble the whole unit to get to those rollers. It's like you having to fully disassemble your car to change the tires. I have an S510 with melty, sticky rollers just like this here and this is what I'm faced with. I might look for another brand of similar scanners for my future purchase after reviewing that for ease of maintenance and repairs. Thanks for the great video Luis!

Hi Luis, thanks a lot for your good intruduction how to deasemble the Scanner und replace the rollers. I've done this on me Fi-5120C with new rolls. My problem now is, that the lengh of a DinA4 page is shorter (282mm instead of 297mm) because of a different diameter of the rolls. How do you fiexed this problem with your tape? Here the diameter must be much more different. I adjust the lengh in the Twain driver, but is it possible to do this directly in the Scanner?
