IP67 fabrics for water protection, you must use the protector if you are going to ear clean by touching the capsule, the fabric could be damaged and not make it waterproof, so use the protector, the connector on the rear of the USB microphone is not waterproof.

Wished for more random 10min audio “testing” upload XD youre one lf the few that gives the actual meaning of ASMR to me due to the quick “hello” in one ear. Are you one of the people that pronounce it incorrectly? (looking at your spelling) If in doubt, try going to google translate, and simply write “binaural” in the field and click the speaker button for a correct pronunciation, and maybe I'll do a quick hello in my next video 😎

4 capsuled mic? From your pre-edited comment: you probably have twigged on now that the mic is only a two capsuled mic, so it's stereo, with an ear over each capsule that infuses binaural information to the recorded sound, giving us external perceptions of where the sound is coming from, when the volume is set correctly on playback. I think this version of the new mic sounds pretty epic! Thank you for leaving a comment.

@@user-gx3mp4fy5k Yes, they should do it as they are cardioid, and you would have to dismantle the unit, it's quite simple, but be aware of small plastic parts. At the beginning of my video career, in the early 1990s, I was fortunate to work on an air show in Kalamazoo Michigan that featured a demo of a MiG-29 as well as a full Blue Angels presentation. Back then I had fantasized about capturing the audio in full-frequency binaural. And now you've done it! I'm looking forward to more. My impressions: good immersive effect, excellent dynamic range (seemingly uncompressed), generally excellent frequency pickup (perhaps a little lacking below, say, 80 Hz). My experiments with binaural, including having my personal HRTFs being measured back in the 90's, have shown me that for optimum binaural effect the pickup and my HRTFs must match pretty closely. That's why Apple's Personal-Spatial-Audio works so well for me and my AirPod Pros. When spatial audio is turned on I actually get some externalization of the sound field. Too bad mere mortals cannot turn on the necessary flag to activate the effect on KZfaq (I've only found it works with streamed multichannel movies and spatial-encoded Apple Music material). As it is in this recording while the ambient immersion is good, I never got a firm impression of "upness" that you get at a live airshow. Nor was there much pinpoint precision in L/R positioning in beach-parallel flybys of the Typhoon. Mind you, these are the same effects I hear in other binaural recordings of more mundane material, such as music. I'd be interested to hear what others think. It may be an "only-me" problem. BTW generally excellent camera work, especially some of the shots in the Red Arrows segment. You were lucky that the background clouds had just enough texture to maintain a sense of motion and of position when zoomed in. I found back in Kalamazoo that with a clear blue sky you can lose both since there is no visual frame of reference.
@sr3d-microphones
@sr3d-microphones Ай бұрын
Hi, thank you for your detailed comment. I can agree with you on many levels, binaural is very much down to the shape of the pinna recording equipment and your own pinna, if the shape is off set by too much, it just causes confusion of perception. I also recorded last year's typhoon at Southport with the original mic that has been made since 2013 when I first realised hot to create "analogue" binaural, the new stuff on iPhone I've heard of, but not actually tried it yet, and hands down for the audio on the iPhone 15, which is actually very good, the batteries died on the Zoom F3, so was quite disappointed as they only lasted n hour or so, but shows off it's capability very well in the Red Arrows section, and, as being an obsessed photographer back in the 90's myself, I too thought that a few shots were actually pretty good too, and indeed the texture of the cloud formation sure helped give a sense of movement where I also tried not to always be zoomed in, but to try and show the sense of distance to help bring the binaural aspect into its own, the iPhone sure handled the videography admirably, the hand sake and little movements have been completely eliminated by the phone it'self, no processing of the video apart from fades and cuts were made, the audio side was a direct file transfer from the recorder, and was selected for output as IEEE float, at 32 bit, I have no idea what KZfaq does to the audio when it is processed by them, the software was davinci resolve, which I think is a fantastic free software. I am very excited about the results from the new circuits inside the microphone and hope that any comments reflect this, as yours did. I am obsessed with binaural, as I was in the 90's with photography, I had my own darkroom and 3 enlargers and many different format cameras, from 1/4 plate, to 35mm, and I have processed the negatives and prints in both colour and black and white, then in 1995, got given a computer by a very close friend at the time which got me into computing, where the obsession in that took over until KZfaq came about, and I eventually found the magic of audio, and the different modes it has, mono, stereo and binaural for the analogue types, am not looking at the digital aspects of it, but understand that maybe one day, I may find someone who can place my ideas for the formulation of algorithms that possibly could add binaural information to mono sound sources.

@sr3d-microphones
@sr3d-microphones 3 ай бұрын
The dummy head and other mics is the reason for the video, it’s more an audio thing than a video thing. The dummy head is a microphone as are the tube mics, and are specialised in collecting sounds in exactly how we hear things, so you should have been wearing headphones to tele-transport your ears to the church and would experience what it actually sounds like in there, if you close your eyes it maybe more convincing- it’s called binaural audio and is very special sound that makes things sound like they are external to ourselves as in real life.
@patrickfewell3257
@patrickfewell3257 3 ай бұрын
Organs have multiple keyboards (manuals) because different sounds are needed at the same time when playing. There are quick ways to change stops, but more flexibility is needed than that. Each manual typically has different pipes associated with it. You can couple one keyboard to another usually. If I coupled Swell to Great, the swell pipes would play when I play the Great, but not vice versa. Basically each keyboard has different pipes and different sounds. Volume level was also a concern. Remember organs were made before modern electronics. It was not always possible to change the loudness of each pipe. Some were put in a box where doors could be opened and closed to adjust loudness level. If you pull out all the stops, the organs can get quite loud. Also, if you remember that organs don't have sustain pedals, you can see the pedals (not the keyboard for the feet but the ones just above thoae) would be used for other things. One pedal is often the crescendo pedal that automatically adds specific sounds or pipes as you change the position of the pedal. Another possible pedal use would be to open and close the swell box that makes some pipes louder and softer. So basically, you have several manuals used for different pipes or sounds. They can usually be coupled together in some ways, depending on the organ. You have the keyboard for the feet which also has its own pipes, and usually can have the swell or Great manual coupled to it. Then just above the keyboard pedals for the feet, you often have 2 or 3 pedals that look sort of like a sustain pedal but actually are the crescendo pedal or volume in some organs. The stops you pull out are different pipe sounds. The number written is the pipe length. The buttons in between the manuals are memory presets. You can make certain combinations of pipes active, then set those to memory. Often, there are also foot memory buttons too.

Only by swapping the Primo EM272 for a more sensitive microphone on the external input, as omnidirectional would be a waste of time on the unit itself. I have found a more sensitive capsule and I am still experimenting with that, but it is ‘louder’ (more gain) than the primo or zoom originals.

@sr3d-microphones 3 ай бұрын
Yes, plenty of noise, I’m sure you spotted the note on the video explaining what it was unless you skipped through it. Compression artefacts sound very much different to the hiss of escaping air, but it even got me when I first got back to the workshop as I though it was some kind of noise with the equipment too, but it’s just air escaping from the old leather seals. The church does have a fund for raising monies to repair it, it is a very expensive project.

I tried a pair of EM264Y and the results were kinda disappointing as the levels were about the same, iv'e still yet to make some recordings to compare them, but I've been quite busy of late, but it's on the cards to do so, I'm not that excited to test other mics due to my findings of the EM264Y as I imagined that they would have been much better than the zoom originals, but it looks like zoom did a good job in selecting the ones that they did, I can't see why there's noise on their capsules though, but compared with the EM272's it's quite spectacular, though the stereo field is lost, if I get time this summer I may just try some experiments, but without opening up the H1E, I'll just plug them into the external socket first, to see if it's worthwhile doing a swap out.
