After a couple more videos, I'll be ready to purchase an old hit miss to tear down and play with. I'm just about finished with the 1934 IH type LA

That's great! These things are wonderful to restore and run! Good luck!

Hi I have watched you restore this from the beginning can I ask were did you buy your reproduction badge plate thank you
@Radiotexas6 күн бұрын
The McCormick-Deering "decals" came from Flywheel Supply. The reproduction aluminum "timing plate" or "badge plate" came from Hitandmiss2 on eBay.

Awesome. Looks like you may have removed the internal glass scale to drill the scale and add the support bracket? I need to do this for my Cincinnati 12x 42. Please advise. Subscribed.
@RadiotexasАй бұрын
We did not remove the glass scale. The mounting brackets are separate. Not sure if if this answers your question. The instructions that came with the kit were, actually, pretty good. Please email me if you need more info and I will try and help. Thanks for your comment!

Great job. Your understanding of the ignition system was incorrect. It is a high voltage ignition system and the low 180ohm resistance of the LED across the spark gap was effectively shorting it out.

still not sure what these were used for, catalogue says coast artillery, and AAA units, and was sposed to communicate with the SCR-593 warning set. but havent seen a TO&E, with those.

Your Z is a beautiful engine. I myself rebuilt a 1 1/2 1918 Z compression was not high due to pitting on the cylinder. I had a machine shop bore and sleeve it. The points were modified from original and now it’s a running machine.

It's so great to see this video!! I found [and still have] one exactly like this one in 1972. Way before the internet, which brought me to this. I haven't had mine running for years but am going to get it running again and hope to power a line shaft machine shop I put together many years ago. I use a big electric motor to run it all the time but I have a smaller throttle governed enclosed crank that I've used before. I just want to get this out and running again. Mine still has the tin box with the knife switch and a model T coil like this one. When I dragged it out of a junk yard in 1972 the rocker arm was broken and missing but I figured that I could make something to braze on that would work but it would be a lot of trouble and thought. Imagine my happiness and surprise when in cleaning out all the junk in the water hopper I found that whoever broke the rocker arm off in the past was thoughtful enough to put it the the water hopper to be found! I brazed it up and it worked great. I had it running for years [after much trouble without the help of the internet] and with a load on the flywheels it would keep certain RPMs pretty well. I need 250 RPMs on the main shaft so the spring trick I just learned will most likely to come in handy. That and a bunch of pulleys. I'm so grateful to see this! Mine also has the same [but weary and rusted out] gas tank too. I now see one can even buy a new gas tank! Who'da thought?

So Heart Warming, Amazing Voice along with the artwork of video production the music was a blessing. :) Speaking of your history and sharing, with the grace of reaching out to family. Almost having a tear. Lots of love to all subjects. I'm up late not able to sleep, searching for Machine Shops History, I'm aware of a local antique belt machine shop, restore, open to public and just to educate others. A chance to support old small town. :)

@@Radiotexas I used to tend gas wells in Titusville PA, very close to the "Drake Well". There was an old central power on one of my lease roads. It was all over grown but the turn table was visible. The engine was missing its cylinder. Way back at end of that lease was a small service rig with 1943 license plate. There was tree growing up inside the derrick and animals has chewed all the rubber of the tires. I spent 48 years in the oil field. I'm retired now, but work part time making fishing lures.

Im 64 and this is one of the best old school stories ive ever heard in my life. Your fathers career was just amazing, nothing stopped him no matter what bad times may have dished out he was educated, inventive, creative, a teacher and so much more. I SO enjoyed your fathers story, the kind of man America would be hard pressed to produce today, God bless him.

You still have to take a written exam but now, the requirement to be proficient in the sending and receiving of code is no longer a requirement. I learned it through because you never know when I’m going to have to use it. I can copy upwards of 20 WPM if I’m ready concentrating and listening with headphones.
