The hull deck joint is 2 overlapping 2-3 inch wide flanges of fiberglass, each about 1/4 inch thick. The lifeline stanchions through bolt though both flanges, with the nuts and washer deep inside the hollow bulwarks. The teak cap rails also bolt to this flange. Water typically leaks in where the sections of cap rail meet (splice).and follow fastenings. I have no experience in freezing climates. But I "think" water which leaks in past failed sealants then freezes and expands, and this causes real damage that would never be seen in temperate climates. After a thaw more rain can and will then pour in. Repeat every year and my guess is this kind of damage occur. Of course, since the silly liner closes off all access to the hollow bulwarks it collects leaking water, and falls off. 40+ years of N. California rain and sun 35F to 95F hardly phased my 30 - although a previous owner did (wisely) remove all the vinyl liner. The aluminum framed ports in all old fishers will leak, and need to be carefully removed and rebedded with modern sealant. Corrosion may be an issue, but is obvious. The bronze ports also need to be carefully removed and sealed. in boats from any climate, due to age, sun .

With regard to polyurethane two pack paint with which you were painting you engine bearers, hand painting is relatively safe, but if you spray paint polyurethane the activator used is carsenogeric,so breathing apperatus must be used, and not in confined areas, just a heads up!

Thanks for the heads up. Since then, the polyurethane paint has been redrawn from shops as it is now illegal to sell (in Norway and EU), due to health risk. So you were on to something...

I agree. That turbo has been stuck for a long time. Dere is no intercooler on this engine. Absolutely no need for more power, only need 60% of this engines output to reach maximum speed of this hull. But a reduction in fuel consumption would be good....

Hi. Yes it is, with some care as it is not as strong on the hinges/arms when tugged in. And of course you cant sail it then. As a general rule, only have the sidehulls tugged in when necessary and when moored in protected harbors. :-)

Looks like such a good design all round, from the pilot house and deck to the protected prop and rudder due to the full keel. New build boats often lack one or more of these features and it makes hunting for the right boat a real effort.

Hi Dave, Thanks for motivating feedback on my videos. Since I dont have a traditional boat I dont really attend boat festivals. That brings me with not much experience to recommend from. I have heard that Risør Trebåtfestival is nice (trebatfestivalen.no/). Then there is Hardanger Trebåt og Håndverksfestival (www.trebaat.no/), which is actually just a hour and a half of driving from where I live. Situated in Nordheimsund there is a set of very skilfull boatbuilders that has been restoring old boats for a very long time. So I guess it depends a little bit on what you are looking for. Helge if you have levelled the boat externally to the waterline with a laser then ‘the interior is what the interior is’. I strongly suspect if cheap lasers had been around back then when when the boat was built they might have used them.😉 Good to see Sara doing the thinking while you were doing the grafting. The stabsaw is referred to as a jigsaw in the U.K. Keep up the good work and I am sure Sara has plenty to think about.🤣⛵️

Hi Norman. Since the boat has been emptied for both equipment and interior then there is not really an original waterline to measure from either. But I will just have to do the best of the different measures and use common sense I guess.... ;-)

Welcome to this channel. Sorry for ruining your dream with these realities. I guess this boat has had an extra hard life in the north of Norway. Maybe southern boats have way less rot..? My daughter, Sara, did actually apply - and got accepted - to several British universities. Still she decided to attend the university in Bergen due to the high costs of attending UK universities. And with a record-low currency rate (NOK vs Pound) it is even worse... So her english accent is a result of her own wish to master english. Yet she cant decide what her accent should be... :-D

10 Kroner = 1 US Dollar? Saber Saw or Jig Saw. You should wear laser protective lens for the wavelength of lazer you are using... even reflected lazer light can injure your eyes ! Using the lazer is brilliant... as is making the templates using the glue gun. What is the template material ?

Hi Captain. Nowadays I believe 1US = 11NOK but I still use 10 as it is easy to convert. :-) Laser: indirectly? Really? It did not say that. I shall check. This is quite a weak laser, eg won´t work utside in the sun. Template material is medium quality 5 mm plywood and som old interior plates from the 70ies, I god from a neighbour refurbishing his old house.

Haha, I love your opening scene in the shirt that won't retire, but which disappears when your wife appears. ; ). "Puttied" is good, "fillet" is better, although fillet is the same word as the verb to remove the bones from a fish or the noun for the boned side of a fish. Note that the final "t" is pronounced for the material that rounds off an interior angle; the final "t" is silent (as in French) for the fish bits. English is weird but you manage beautifully no matter what Sara says. Sticksaw = jigsaw, also weird because jig is a lively dance (a dancing saw?) or a device that holds materials in place for assembly. Makes about as much sense as "Ash Island" without a volcano. Boat level --> they were still "experimenting" with drugs in the '70s; we're better at doing drugs now.

Still the music was a good addition. Filleting! Okay.. That directly translates to Norwegian as something that is not important at all or small/of no big value. "It was nothing to talk about. Saber saws are the larger blade reciprocating saws where the blade comes out the end in a straight line and are used for cutting larger timber thicknesses...the blades tend to be 10-14cm long so are larger and more powerfull.
