I get what you are saying, but I think there were a few factors involved in this show's getting green-lit. One is the popularity of the Brady Bunch in syndication, after the show was canceled. The second is the popularity of the the Sonny and Cher show, which had a similar format.

The 70s had great music and great movies, and some great TV shows. I was born at the end of the decade and it sounds like it would have been a cool time to be in your 20s like my parents were.
