The boys watch some clips from The Brady Bunch Variety Hour. Hilarity ensues. Includes a visual element. See guys, look how easy it is.

According to Barry Williams in _Growing Up Brady,_ Robert Reed was enthusiastic about _The Brady Bunch Hour_ even though he was constantly pissed off and fuming behind the scenes of every other incarnation of the Bradys.
@Patrick31832 жыл бұрын
Why was he pissed off and fuming
@gspendlove2 жыл бұрын
Basically, because he hated the scripts and thought the show was stupid. You'd have to read the book to get into greater detail. You should. It's a really funny book, especially the chapter where Barry talks about how he happened to be stoned during the filming of an episode.

"I've got no energy to do anything. I just wanna lay under an afghan all day." Fucking hilarious. I'm walking my dog at 10pm, and all you can hear is my laugh coming out of the dark. Even worse is that my noise cancelling headphones are making me project my laugh 10 times louder than normal.

Variety Shows were the thing during the 70s. Pretty much everyone in show business had one. Rumor is that Ann B. Davis hated working with Rip Taylor, who she was usually pair with for the musical number. She was extremely conservative, and he was....well....

I get what you are saying, but I think there were a few factors involved in this show's getting green-lit. One is the popularity of the Brady Bunch in syndication, after the show was canceled. The second is the popularity of the the Sonny and Cher show, which had a similar format.

the funny thing is that the brady bunch was never that popular of a show when it was in prime time.and this was typical of variety shows back then, they were very corny, you should see the captain and tenille show, it makes this look like Shakespeare.

And that was just the regularly scheduled variety shows. Don't forget all of the specials that were just as corny and bad that also took on the same cheesy format. The best of the best of the variety shows was The Carol Burnett Show, to me it was more quality entertainment and sketch comedy, perhaps the only intelligent variety show. Flip Wilson and the Smother's Brothers were pretty good too.
